Color Matched Bumper Covers

For you guys that are perfectionists, and have the bumpershellz color matched bumper covers, what do you think?

I hadn't seen anything negative on this page, but was reading some pretty serious negative comments about them on a different page from a couple guys.

2+ years on BumperShellz MGM ones here. No issues whatsoever, they look great to me.

Interested about white as well. Curious about fitment and if any chrome is visible after install. Really don’t want to spend the money for full replacements.

 

I have the front set of Bumpershellz covers with the parking sensor holes. I Ordered them in Radiant Red. They are an exact fit. You would have no idea that they are covering chrome. The color is also exact. They look like they came that way of the factory line. I'm very happy with them. I think the total time from order to delivery was about a month and a half.

 

I am about as anal as they come when it comes to my Tundra and my Miata. Things have to be just right. I am very happy with my Bumper shellz end caps, grill surround and hood bulge. The color match is 99%. In certain light you can tell an ever so slight difference…Much like many OEM parts.

They are an awesome product. I live close to their factory and picked them up. They even gave me a little tour of their facility and it was very impressive. Good people too, the whole thing was a good experience. I highly recommend.

 

I've been on the fence on these for years.
I'd love to have color-matched bumper ends, but I'm afraid my OCD issues wouldn't allow the covers.
Good to see that some of y'all are happy with the results.

I might just have to give it a try.

How is the fitting on the fog light?
Does it just cover it, or does the bezel go into the cover?

@ 1lowlife…It fits perfect around the fog light bezel. They send a roll of 1/8” wide black vinyl tape that you can apply if necessary to disguise any chrome that might peek thru. I didn’t need it but did put the tape where the end cap meets the black center part of the bumper. The big issue with the caps are the parking sensors. Getting them reinstalled was a bit of a chore, they worked intermittently after the reinstall until I took my thumb and pushed in on them as hard as I could. That tightness does cause a slight dimple effect around the sensor so if you are off the charts OCD you may be bothered by that. I’m not. My thinking is the improvement in the trucks de-chromed look far outweighs the dimple effect…and I’m pretty anal. If your truck doesn’t have parking sensors then don’t hesitate buying these. They are a great product that saves a ton of $$$ over the OEM end caps.

 

I don't have bumpershellz, but the painted OEM instead. Cement is definitely a tricky color because I'm 99% sure 2017/2018 are sliiiiightly darker/bluer.

I can tell if I get super up close and look at them/the surround compared to the parts that originally came on the truck. However, from any farther away it is very difficult to tell. I know I'm anal, but I take comfort in the fact that nobody has ever mentioned the very slight difference in shades. You pretty much have to know it's non-factory painted to be able to notice.

 

I was told quicksand was a difficult color to match but these match perfectly. Originally, the idea of covering the chrome with a “shell” that partially used double sided tape seemed cheesy but these things really are an incredible fit. The second I held one up to one of the caps, I was blown away with the precision of the cuts and how it contours around the fog lights. I’m very picky when it comes to my trucks but the difference these things make is night and day and you would never know it is a cover.

 

100% agree with this. The dimple bothered me for a couple seconds but then I stood back and looked at how much better it looked without the chrome. I don’t even notice or think about it now.

Thanks for the input guys! Definitely answered my concerns regarding them. I’ll be doing this instead of shelling out the money for bumpers.

 

I sent a PM to @EC1 about the difference between the acrylic and Painted -To-Match MGM.
After I get a response I'll order one or the other..

 

@1lowlife are your rear bumpers color matched or chrome?

you might find yourself happy with black bumpers front and rear over color matched. Also the cost savings is a bonus.

 

I've seen a few pics and a few on the road with black bumpers..
I don't think my OCD would allow that...

The cost is no issue.
Hell, I got paid for 6 days this week and only worked 4....

I'll say it again, OEM TRD Pro LED headlights with an @iHacker harness would finish that truck off...




Keep the daytime amber DRLs, have the dim white halos come on with the parking/headlights, and it's plug and play.
