For owners who are lucky enough to have got a 2022 Tundra delivered, my question is this.

I have a 1794 + a Capstone on order , kinda which ever one shows first I will probably bring home. I'm holding out for the Advance Pack so I get the 5 drive mode options on the he 1794
    or standard on the Capstone.

The delay appears to be the Advance Pack option. The reason I want it is for " Comfort Ride" for ripping down the highway.

Do any owners have a comment on whether this actually makes the ride better or should I just say F it and take the next one that rolls onto the lot. I am 9 months waiting for these trucks

I've watched a YouTube video from this guy and he says that AVS doesn't really make a difference, or he can't tell the ride difference between the modes. Check it out: https://youtu.be/lsGJyHl2Glc

I got 1794 with regular non Trd shocks, no avs. Ride sucks when unloaded - turns poorly and ride is bumpy on average surface roads. With weight in truck bed, ride is better and less bumpy. Highway ride is fine either way.

I wish I got a Trd package so it has better stiffer shocks - that would probably help with better turning/handling. Ride with Trd probably would still be subpar...

Can't comment regarding the air suspension as I don't have one... But I don't hear people raving about it nor saying that the ride is much smoother and better than the regular suspension. I guess the upside is if you carry heavy load, then you can probably pump up the rear to make it level. Idk

Have you test drive a Tundra with avs and one without to see if it'll make any difference for you? It may not really matter...

I am in Western Canada.....they cant even get them on the lot for a test drive. Its a pretty sad state.
Interesting comments on the video. On the other hand I am in 2012 Platinum.....and it cant get any worse than this truck

    Lots of stuff!
We test drove an SR5 in April and then put a deposit on a limited trd. In September a different limited trd came available so we jumped on it. The ride is definitely stiffer than the SR5 but it does feel very stable. When we load it up with the trailer, it is much smoother.

Tires and tire pressure make a big difference to the ride as well.

I am expecting a stiffer ride when I get the new tires (if they are 10 ply) compared to the summer tires (michelins) that came with my TRD off road package.

So we can establish that nobody really is amazed by how good ride quality is on a Tundra. It is average shall we say.

Then, Trd kit gives you more stiffer shocks which will help you with handling. It'll still be a stiff ride, but at least it won't suck as bad as regular non Trd shocks that feel like a boat when you're turning.

Will you tow or carry heavy loads in the bed? If not then you probably won't benefit from the AVS air suspension ability to raise or lower the rear.

So to answer your question, AVS is probably not important and you probably won't even feel the ride quality difference.

Oh, and if you won't get the avs air suspension, then you won't ever have issues with the it ;-)

I test drove an SR5, a limited(hybrid), and a 1794. The limited and 1794 had a softer ride than the SR5 - probably due to the active hydraulic mounts on the cab on limited and above models. The 1794 felt even softer than the limited, but that might have been due to the tires being different (the 1794/limited test drives were on the same day - same route - the SR5, months earlier on the same route) I came from a '11 sr5 dblcab 6.5' TRD OR, and before that, a '00 SR5 Dblcab 6.5' TRD OR. The 1794 hybrid TRD OR 5.5 crewmax I have rides softer than the 2 trucks I had before. And like what I remembered with the 1794 I test drove. It's a truck, I don't expect it to ride/handle like my S5 Audi. But, for a truck, I really love how it rides. But, that's just me. ;)

I have a plat with the adv and rear air. In the 20k miles I've put on mine so far, I can absolutely tell the difference when the different modes are selected. In comfort, the truck does not transmit small bumps as much to the seat. Over rough pavement and gravel, the ride is smoother. However, big motions like pitch and roll are more pronounced. In sport+ mode, it's the opposite- small bumps are more noticeable but big motions are kept in check. I switch on comfort on local and switch to custom (sport suspension mode) on the freeway. I prioritize body control when moving fast and comfort when just plodding around.

Test drive with and without the avs, only your butt can tell you how happy you'll be.

I’d second the above. It is noticeable, but it isn’t night and day like some AVS I’ve used. That may be due to having to constrain body roll, there is only so much they can get away with compared to a sports car.

Keep in mind that the AVS is the electronic adjustable shocks with the additional settings. Not all those with air suspension have that.

Any yes, I can confirm per the post above that the AVS does change the ride feel.

Agreed. I’ve been playing around with the AVS on my Platinum and this describes how it feels for me and how I use it. It’s not a huge difference between each mode, but it’s noticeable. There’s a bad stretch of highway near my house that I’m always switching to Comfort mode for. And if I’m in a hurry, it’s Sport+ because of how it improves handling.

I will say that Sport mode (and Sport+) changes the throttle mapping and shift points in a significant way. Very nice. Although that’s pretty much like any other vehicle that has a Sport mode.

You aren’t missing too much. It can be a little more pliable or a little more firm than the standard setup, but it isn’t magic.

If you are thinking of a lift, you don’t want the package as it just adds hurdles.

The main reason I entertained the package was for the HUD as I travel a lot. It helps with navigation and LTA. It is so much easier knowing what LTA is doing (or not doing) with it on the windshield.

Got it. Yeah I figured that avs is probably not a deal breaker... And because of low inventory and dealer markups, it's not like I had much options anyway...

I use LTA pretty often and like it, don't see any trouble with looking down at the dashboard to see if it was able to Lock in the lanes or not. I didn't feel like it was troublesome to look down at the dashboard to check on the LTA. But I never really had HUD either.

I had HUD on a rental X5 for a week and didn't really care for it... I don't care to see the speed or GPS turn arrows. Tundra GPS navigation screen is huge and easy to see, so don't see the need for HUD. Although I never really had it on a Tundra, so not sure if it really helps.

I would like to thank everyone for the input. I will patiently wait for my ordered 1794/Advance Pack to arrive or grab the first Wind Chill Pearl Capstone they can get. I was starting to second guess my choice but the Tundra Forums solidified the 5 drive mode is worth the wait.

Cheers, If it ever shows up I will post it on this thread.
