While driving through Texas I switched to the compass in the Instrument panel (IP or combination cluster). I noticed that my Google map said I was going one direction and the vehicle said I was going at a right angle to that direction. Turns out Google maps was correct. Any idea how to calibrate the built in compass? I looked in the owner's manual, nothing to be found. Or did I miss it?

Obviously not the same but on my home link rear view mirror with compass there is a procedure for calibrating that involves entering a calibration mode then driving around in figure 8s or circles.

Same with my '02 Duramax, which I sold today. :) It was a good truck, hope it serves the new owner as well as it did me.

if the compass PDI was not done correctly, there is procedures in the manual to re-calibrate it.

I could not find any reference to the compass on the online manual while traveling. Now that I am home I will check again in the printed version.

it may not be in the owners manual. it could be a supplemental insert that came with all the manuals.

i cant find it in the owners manual. i know prior to 22 tundra's they had a section in the owners manual on how to re-cal the rearview mirror for the built in compass. not sure where its pulling the compass reading from now.

If you are navigating in Google maps via CarPlay the compass will lock up and not show the correct direction. Who knows why? But it does. I had a thread on this a couple months ago. See the post above for link.

Just a heads up, if you use Waze instead of Google maps the dash compass works fine
