    Hey Everyone!

    Just wanted to make a guide on getting a CM900 (Or Cs4900-S Kit) installed in my new-to-me first gen 2000 tundra, first things first I am in no way a professional installer for these kits just a DIY'er with a curiosity for learning so any tips or advice is encouraged (Note this is in Canadian Pesos AKA CAD taken from 8/24/2024, my local shops typically will charge roughly 500-600 bucks for something roughly the same as this)

    Before you do this yourself make sure you know what you are getting into, basic wiring tools and basic knowledge on tapping into OEM wires are a must and note this is only for the keyless entry (unlock and locking) and auto start CM900S, NOT the security system aka units with a CM900AS (which have door inputs/start kill switches added on)

    Lets start now!

    As other users have mentioned this video is a good general starter of installation of these units

    Disassembly of lower dash starts between the 5 Min mark till 6 min - Fairly straight forward stuff

    I'll be posting the rest of the installation tomorrow or next week (wanting to make it look pretty and easy to read )

    In the mean-time here are some resources I will be referring to in said installation if you would like to read through them :)

    Alrighty we are back

    Once the lower dash and drivers kicker panel is removed (Follow the same video as previously mentioned, fairly straight forward, make sure to go easy old plastic isn't as flexible nowadays lol)

    Now we get into the fun stuff, wiring!, there are 2 main sections CN1 (Main Harness) and CN3 (Unlock/Lock features + Auxiliary Options), additionally please make note if your truck has a factory alarm, you will need BLADE-AL (typically ranges from 60-100 CAD or 40 - 70 USD) (This will be CN2) which won't be covered in this guide, though should point you in the right direction if where to tap in.

    CN1- Main Harness Connection

    See below for details and picture of the connector location/connector, for splicing, all I did strip back the wires and wrap the new CM-900 wires onto them, and soldered the connections to keep them from bouncing around, once done I wrapped them up in electrical tape and will be putting some tesa tape 51608 to make it nice and neat

    1 Red (+) 12V Output -> White Ignition Lock Connector (REQ)
    2 Green/White (+) Parking Light Output -> Green Drivers Kick Panel (REQ)
    3 Red/White (+) 12V Output -> White/Red Ignition Lock Connector (REQ)
    4 White (+) Accessory -> Blue/Red Ignition Lock Connector (REQ)
    5 Blue (+) Selectable by Jumper -> Black/Yellow Ignition Lock Connector (REQ)
    6 Yellow (+) 12V Starter -> Green/Black Ignition Lock Connector (REQ)
    7 Green (+) 12V Ignition -> Black/Red Ignition Lock Connector (REQ)
    8 Black (+) Ground Chassis Ground

    As for the two other wires location on where I put these will be seen in the splicing of CN3
    Green/White (+) Parking Light Output
    Black (+) Ground

    These will be seen in the next section on splicing
    CN3 (Unlock/Lock features + Auxiliary Options)

    So that is it! once you plug in the antenna you are good to go!,

    Make sure everything works properly, by testing both unlock and lock features and additionally trying the auto start, you should be able to start the truck and pushing the brake pedal will cut it off, if no key is in the ignition in the ON position

    One issue I have currently is that AutoStart is iffy, sometimes it cranks over / other times it cranks but does not crank over (Possibly setting cranking times) Any tips would help a bunch!

    And to say it again the CM900S is merely keyless entry and AutoStart / basic theft deterrent (LED blue light + (Horn if bought)/ If you want something that can protect your vehicle better CM900AS Or kits that specifically say Security and have the CM900AS brain, are the ones which have a ignition setup that only cranks over if authorized by the remote/brain I can still start my truck even if I lock the vehicle

    Hope this helps anyone looking at doing this themselves and let me know if there is any feedback or questions on this setup,

    Hopefully sometime soon I will make it look nice and neat and show you all the final setup

    Connected it and all seem to work.
    Lock/Unlock/RemoteStart.
    But that's it.
    It says that it has some arm/alarm features, but I don't see it. I did connect the Horn and was expecting it at least go into panic mode if the door is opened without unlocking, but it is not.
    I don't get it.

    Did anybody achieved anything regarding this?

    Hey @kulldox!

    Been on a bit of hiatus from the forums but will check a little more often :)

    Do you know which compustar model did you get?

    I believe the model I have on the truck is (CM900) have on does not necessarily act as a security feature more of a convenience system

    Let me know I will check back on this post to make sure I respond!

    Mine is 4900s which is CM900. I understood that it is not out of the box, but still.
    It does have a PANIC mode, so I guess all it would need is to somehow trigger that when it detects that the doors are open without unlocking from the remote. The confusing thing is that in their manual they use terms "arm/unarm", to me this sounds like a security related term :).

    I guess it would work only if the box keeps track of are the doors locked or not. Hmm, actually I did not check, if you open the doors with they keys, does the "arm" blue led turn off automatically? Need to check that.

    I can have a look more into the details of arm/unarm tomorrow

    but it does sound logical that you may need to tap into a door sensor to allow the 4900s to understand the status of the door (open or closed) (same sensor/button that turns the lights on when you open the door)

    I believe how I wired it for this guide my box doesn’t actually know the status of the door so it’s just lit up until I press unlock no matter what

    After looking through the manual

    I believe the CM900 arm and rearm option looks to be for if the vehicle was equipped with a factory alarm it would arm/disarm the factory security-system :( that would open a plethora of worms on its own as you would than need a harness taping into that system aswell

    the CM900AS does have a door input pin on it allowing it to be a all in one security unit unlike CM900 where the functions are limited to the very basics like lock/unlock and auto start, nothing more nothing less

    hope this helps I might plan on seeing how I can upgrade to a CM900AS but currently have other things to do (building up the courage to learn/repair the rusted out sides of the bed ):annoyed:
