Been really happy with the 2021 Tundra. The family is looking to replace our '16 Odyssey and thinking a Sequoia might get us out of the minivan comfortably. Found one we're looking at, it's a 2020 TRD Pro in army green. 53k miles. We received the Experian auto history report, it was built in October of 2019. There is one large gap from when built to any entries on this report, including oil changes. The first oil change noted on this report is at 22k miles approximately 20 months from the build date. After this, oil changes are logged at at 32k miles, then 36k miles, then 41k miles, 45k miles. This is a single owner vehicle.

I'm a 5k mile oil change interval type of person, I do it myself. How much would that initial gap on the report spanning 20 months and 22k miles bother you? I understand there may be oil changes (done by a shop or the owner) which do not show up on that report). I don't want to buy anything that has been neglected though, plan is to keep this beyond 150k miles.

Other than that it has the TRD exhaust (unclear if it comes this way from the factory or if the owner added it) and 285/70/R18 Nitto Recon Grappler tires, which aren't ideal for us given this is a family hauler, prefer tires closer to stock due to weight, road noise, etc.

    Appreciate any insight or opinions.

Maybe double check it against the carfax. Are there items on the carfax that wouldn’t show up on the experian report?

Seems like there would be a “free” oil change that the dealership would have done @ 10k miles.

I agree it’s concerning. I’d reach out to the selling dealer and see if they have any records. They could look it up by VIN I would think…

Interestingly enough I didn’t even consider looking separately at carfax until your suggestion. I assumed the experian report would be pulling from the same info as carfax. Sure enough the carfax shows oil changes ever 5k-6k. Great suggestion, thanks.

For 285/70/18 tires, these can fit without a lift or spacers, right? Being a family hauler I don’t want any of these types of mods. From what I can tell they should fit. Can anyone tell by looking if this sequoia is lifted a tad or has spacers?

Kinda does look like it has spacers. 285/70R18s are 34s. I don’t think those would fit without a bit of added space.

But then again, the tundra TRD Pro suspension can fit 285/75s with no mods because its suspension adds 2” of lift up front. So maybe not.

I'll use the spacers as a discussion point, maybe they can check to see. Not sure why it matters honestly. I can just take them off if that's what I decide I want to do when I get new tires...

Anything else on these Sequoias I should check? I'm aware of the cam tower leak on the 5.7, noted. Thats about all that comes to mind though.

Cam tower leak is the most important. In my hunt I ran across a lot of Seqouia with buttons that didn’t work inside- back seats mostly from kids banging them/ spilling stuff on them. Check all those out.

happy to take that TRD pro exhaust off your hands if you want to get rid of it!

This is EXACTLY the car we bought last year, color and all. Ours had 40k miles, and I paid $58K. We really enjoy it. If you ended up buying this one, I'd make sure that with these larger tires don't throw off and interfere with your collision warning system and odometer readings.
The army green color is a winner. I think it was offered only on the 2020-2021 models. Had numerous compliments from strangers while fueling about the color. Reassuring, meaning it'll be easy to sell the car, if need be.
