Would trying to cover up the spot look good? I'm thinking no now it might look worse. Any way to cover up that spot correctly or is a professional needed?

That's a bit (a lot actually) above my skills to determine, especially not seeing it in person. Touch ups will never match true professional paintwork, but it depends on how picky you are. I'm picky. lol

If you have a local body shop that you trust, you can swing in and ask. Most will give you an estimate, and you could ask them if it'll be ok with a touch up, or if it needs more TLC than that. Only do that if you know they're honest.

I have a similar situation close to the same spot but more from underneath. I would find a professional. Mines going to cost $350. Another guy quoted $1K because he want to pull the bumper and do the entire fender. I'm a pretty good mechanic, but I ain't going to deal with having to feather that shit in for something a decent body man can have done with a couple of hours of labor. Yours should be less than three fiddy cause mine needs some grinding and filler

Check the door placard for the paint code. I believe its slate metallic. One of my favorite colors. You'll need to wet sand that areas prime bare metal, then paint it and fade it one layer at a time. Probably more wet sanding to even and level it all out. You can then use some 2k clear and wet sand that even and hope not all matches well. Pretty big job but a body shop would charge a lot.the spot looks like a ratchet toe down strap sat right grrr and caused that damage. That's goo bad cuz the rest looks clean

Just fix it and go on about life. I bought mine with some damage in the same area from what looked like something whacked the fender like a tire tread from the road and tucked the rear fender in a good 3/4" from the bumper. Factory certified. They took $800 of the price. I got it out to the best of my abilities but will finish the job with a body shop. Joe blow on the street wouldn't notice. But now I can get it sanded, filled, and sprayed for three fiddy. It was on the lot for 29000 sticker. I got it for 24K because I bitched about the damage.

I bought mine with this ding. They offered to fix it, I said take $700 off the price and they obliged. I buffed it pretty good at home but you can still notice a bit. Gives them character. Id just do the best you can yourself if you’re able, then have a beer. Don’t sweat it.

Being a metallic paint I would definitely let a body shop fix that. But I am a little OCD. Lol

Perfect place to use a TRD decal to cover up.
