    Hi Folks,

I have a 2022 tundra and the subscription just expired. I renewed it and I have to go scan the QR code to reactivate but the truck will not generate one. Has anyone else had this issue and resolved it?

I'm referring to the code generated when you go to settings --> apps --> remote connect.

I called Toyota on this one and they informed me that (as of a couple days ago) there was a nationwide outage of the Remote Connect QR generation. He suggested to press the SOS button and inform the operator that you are having issues with the Remote Connect QR generation, Toyota Rep told you to use SOS button, and they should be able to set you straight. It worked for me!

Has anyone been able to renew Remote Connect for $8 a month when their Tundra trial ended? My Remote and Drive connect end today and Toyota Connected Services Support told me I will be able to just purchase Remote Connect for $8 a month. Thats all I want but when I go to the app to renew it has Remote Connect bundled with other services I don’t use or need for more money.

Toyota no longer offers Remote Connect for $8 a month. You have to subscribe to a bundle that includes Drive Connect for $15 a month.

Thanks for the info. Kind of a bummer we have to pay in the first place and now more. If they keep raising the price aftermarket starts looking more appealing if we keep our trucks for a long time. I have Drone Mobile on my other Toyotas and it rocks.

The company didn't change. Toyota Connected still builds and runs all connected services for Toyota and Lexus vehicles.

Nothing changed on the backend that I'm aware of. All of the underlying technologies that run the services are still the same. I think bundling the options was just a business decision, nothing related to the technical services or infrastructure.

As I posted in another thread, I was all in for $9 per month, but they lost me by basically doubling the cost and forcing services on me I don’t want, I’m out. I didn’t have remote start on the two previous Tundras I owned and survived just fine lol.

technically its drive connect for $15 month. there is no remote connect as a stand alone product anymore. if you read the description for drive connect, remote connect is free when you subscribe to drive connect now.

the new plan per pic 1 and the details in pic 2

wife and i have already decided this summer/fall we will be installing drone mobile as the toyota app after 5 yrs is the same cost as installing the drone mobile and 5yr gps plan. plus the added benefit of the drone app being better and faster than the toyota app sluggishness that she complains about.

Well its fixed after quite the debacle.

SOS button who sent me to brand engagement who sent me to the SOS button who sent me to brand engagement who sent me to the SOS button who said call brand engagement.

While I was on hold I connected my truck to my home wifi and the code came up immediately….

I had this problem last month. I called with the SOS button. They couldn't fix it, sent me to the "back room" and was told they would call back. That was 4/18. Today, 5/10 I called back again. I was told that the app is "working perfectly", but I had to call with the SOS button and say "remote activation". I told them repeatedly that wasn't an option. The guy insisted this would work. Just tried it 3 times, didn't work. Guess I won't be giving them my money...

Love the truck other than this debacle.

Did you try connecting your truck to your home WiFi? Mine instantly generated a code after that.

Right after I typed above I got a call from toyota. Had to go into setting on the truck, personal info, reset, turn off the truck, and turn it back on. Everything worked fine after that.

Lol, I did. Didn't see where I could connect the truck to home wifi though? I only say the option to use the trucks wifi, which I don't pay for.

So I will need to pay $15 per month to remote start the truck when my sun runs out? Rip off. My 2017 ford focus electric does it for free.

Hello Everyone, I experienced the same difficulties with the Remote Connect activation. This is how I got it resolved after calling The Brand Engagement center at 1-800-331-4331. We were close, using the suggestions above.

First she told me my 2022 Toyota Limited was actually a model 21MM which was a surprise. Not sure if that matters.
    1) Start the truck and TURN OFF blue tooth on your phone. Bluebtooth must be off before beginning the following steps.
    2) press SOS; Say "NO" to the first question if needing emergency assistance.
    3) for the 2nd set of menu options, you actually hear her offer "Remote Activation." I never heard this option in previous tries. She said it's because your blue tooth was on.
    4) After saying Remote Activation, Siri replied that it was activated. The lady on the phone from BE also also confirmed it.
    5) Next, on your iphone, close the toyota app, turn back on bluetooth, then re-open the app. The message had changed from "Activation" to "pending Activation". It notes it will take up to 24 hours to sync. Well, it took about an hour. My app is now back to the state it was during the trial period.

    I hope this helps.

I have a 2022 Tundra. I had the remote service working on my app and was paying for the go anywhere package after the trial period. On the second month ( month 14 total) I needed to renew. The app required me to rescan the QR code on the multimedia display. However, the multimedia display said I need to subscribe to the service. After several calls with customer support and trials via the SOS button as mentioned above, this was not the solve. I had to delete my user profile. Shut off the truck. Restart the truck. The multimedia display had me reestablish my account, scan the VIN number etc. At the end of setting up my profile again I was then able to view the QR code on the multimedia screen for the toyota mobile app to scan and enable my remote start features. Toyota support was great on the last call. I think my situation was different as I ALREADY had a working remote account. Hope this helps the group. Took me all but ten minutes and was easy to setup my preferences after.

    I had same issue.

Dfrink's instructions on 5/10/23 at 12:47 fixed it for me. Took maybe 3 minutes and I got the QR code.

OMG.... All these months later and it's now happening to me. I follow the instructions on the app, but instead of seeing a QR code, I'm told that I need to sign in and create a subscription.
I have my one-year appointment this weekend. I'll ask the dealership.

Just had to renew mine and had the same “waiting on QR Code”. I started following the above instructions but it worked before having to call SOS. Mine worked by turning off truck, turn off Bluetooth on phone, then turned truck back on. Code popped right up! Hope this helps!

I had the same issue today and clicked the SOS button as others stated. The automated voice prompts allowed me to activate my remote services and took effect immediately.

I never even activated the system for my first free year just out of principle. I think subscription based services for things like basic navigation is a slippery slope. What's next? Will we have to pay a subscription just to start our vehicles? That may seem far-fetched, but is it really?

CarPlay and Google Maps, or Apple Maps, works just fine for me. I couldn't care less about remote start.

Eventually Apple and Android integration will be on a per fee basis. Either pay or have a 14 inch paper weight on top of the dash

This system sucks. Every time I get into the truck it defaults to the guest profile. When I manually try to select my profile, it prompts me to input my pin #. So frustrating

Yeah I am also not the biggest fan of paying for s**t just cause that’s already embedded in the vehicle but many manufacturers are doing it. I had the same issue with no QR code and the pro tip above of simply resetting profile, turning truck off and on worked just dandy

I agree that the Toyota system sucks! I had the issue of my built-in Wi-Fi trial expiring and then the head unit would ask me for a PIN every 5 minutes and interrupt whatever else was on the screen (Navigation/Music). I was traveling at the time and it was really a PITA to have to cancel the PIN screen and get back to the Navigation screen. I called the dealership and they said I would have to bring it in to have it reprogrammed so I set up an appointment.

After an hour or so of internet searches I found a solution that worked and canceled my service appointment. You have to set (or reset) the PIN from the Toyota app on the phone and then enter that same PIN on the truck head unit when prompted.
