Hello all, I currently have a 2022 Platinum 4x4 Sequioa that I love. Never had one issue. I am considering a new pickup truck and looked the the Ford F-150, Ford F-250, Gmc and want to get thoughts on the reliability of the new Tundra. With the new turbo 6 cylinder and Hybrid Engine options how is reliability, build quality, and ride quality? I have heard mixed reviews and wonder if you all recommend the New Tundra or should I wait a few years or consider another brand? Please share your thoughts.

First time Toyota owner and I got a 2023 Tundra 1794 edition. Rides great and I am enjoying it. Came from a 2020 Ram 1500 Limited. This one has all the right options and feels great driving around town and on the highway. Would highly recommend.

Love my 23 limited hybrid. Only have 4k on it but continue to be impressed with the ride quality. No major complaints with interior quality but I do have an annoying door buzz/rattle from the stereo bass. Very minor but just enough to notice (there's a very detailed thread here where others have the same noise. I haven't troubleshot it myself yet). Will bring it to the dealers attn at my 5k service.

All in all I'm very happy with my purchase and would recommend the truck to anyone who would ask.

Later 23 builds are getting better. But got damn these trucks are getting expensive. TRD pros with distributor adds are entering raptor and trx territory

No kidding.... Every time I think we have hit the ceiling the MSRP goes up another 1-2K. An identical package to my 23 Limited Hybrid OR that I purchased in Feb is now $2k higher MSRP.

It’s crazy to me how everyone is focused on ride quality. It’s like all the luxury Euro sedan and SUV drivers now drive full-size trucks. “My commute must be comfortable” is the new truck-segment measuring stick.

I think the new Tundra is fairly ironed out at this point. People who really wanted one but actually controlled themselves until now to get it are pretty happy with their trucks. @Breathing Borla just bought one and loves it.

Trade off. Those who got in early also got them for like $4k cheaper at 2% interest rates

    Lots of stuff!
I went and had a look at Toyota.ca and it looks like my trim (Limited Crew TRD Offroad L) is almost $8k more than in September of last year. So in 8 months, that's a huge increase and interest rates are nearly 2% higher like @DrZoidberg stated!

'23 Tundra Platinum, so far no major issues; just a couple of recalls. Great truck, tows great although a little light on payload capability. Cruise control could be a little more refined but not a big issue. Very happy with it. Approaching 10k miles, no issues.

Personally, I'd hold off. There are a number of people with problems, even if it's 5%, such as it going limp suddenly when you need it.

Yeah, it's likely better than one of the "big three". But I'd consider it a crap shoot that you may or may not luck out on.

If I was looking for a new truck, I'd get about the same thing I have now. :)

I have a 23 and it got delivered with 5 miles on it, how is that for confidence in your builds. The early models had issues and those tend to get worked out 18-24 months of production. I really do love mine and have it with the options I like. Hybrid Limited OR model, Awesome so far.

Happy with my 2023 Plat, every nice day the roofs open and the rear glass down. Man I love that. Got it for almost 1500.00 below msrp.
Gave up on my past 2018 F150 lariat, Trans started foaming up the fluid out the vent tube. Ford stated it was overfill by 3.5 qts??? It's never been serviced and my co working just came from GM dealer and was a master tech "Trans pump is failing" he said and it's going to completely fail.
Pretty sad with 45000 miles.....don't miss it or it sitting at the dealer for weeks at a time.

I have 20k+ on a 22’, so the weird thing is I actually like it more now that I have had it awhile. Lots of power and the transmission pairing is great. Getting 20ish mpg consistently lately. Lots of room in the CC configuration. I know I made a good choice.

There are some things that could be better, but as far as an actual truck goes, it does great. I mean I could whine about not have a USB charger in the back seat but not one time have we actually ever needed one, so IDK. The biggest miss to me is the tow hook deletion and the rear bumper step not being standard equipment. I did add the step.Being a truck to do truck stuff it should have those 2 items. Some of the complaints I have seen on here make me think some of these guys should have bought a small Lexus SUV instead.

It does have some wind noise. I have combatted that with my volume button, although I may look at improvements.

It is a bad ass truck though, no doubt. Road Commander.

My 2022 Tundra TRD Limited (delivered in Feb. 2022) just turned 32k km; about 20,000 miles.

The electronics are a bit much for me, but I knew that going in. As Joe Walsh would say, I'm an analog guy.

Zero issues, zero complaints. Tons of power, tows great. I would not hesitate to buy one.

Dont let negative Nancy stop you. Any new vehicle is a crap shoot. They are under warranty.

My 2022 runs flawless, great ride, great milage. If I could share one piece of advice is if you plan to tow any weight, or big load in the box, get the advance pack option, or plan to put after market air bags in it. A lot of concerns in the saggy ass end but, if you want a smooth ride you need coils....hence the 3rd Gen has a saggy bottom. Ihave the advance pack and have had zero concerns other posters are mentioning

Get a used whatever with low miles. Unless you are a lease guy. 21 would be my go to in that market.

The Gen3 Tundra is a great truck that had initial quality issues that will get ironed out. The problem is Gen 2 and 2.5 owners such as myself seeing how Toyota strategically ceded ground to the big 3 in certain areas this time that it attacked aggressively in 2007. It's a bit of a prisoner of its own past.

Look at the Tacoma, it looks like it'll be competitive because Toyota is dominant in that market and wants to hold onto that. They don't seem to have had that aggressive mentality with the Tundra.

The new Tundra isn't a bad truck, just a disappointment to some of the Gen 2 and 2.5 crowd.

You might...depending on your purpose. My wife and I thought we could make a single vehicle work so we sold a 2019 civic sport and traded in the 2016 4R. But the Tundra was too big for her and it was generally difficult having only one vehicle in the winter. We ended up purchasing another 4R (a 2023 ORP).

Go to any one of the "my engine seized" or "my truck was just wrecked" threads here or on the Taco forums and the main advice given is "dump that POS after you get it back from the shop and it will be someone else's problem".

Personally, I don't want to be the guy dropping tens of thousands of dollars to buy that problem. I'll buy new and take the depreciation hit every time.

I have owned my 2023 Hybrid for about a month. It has about 1500 miles on it.

Very happy with the purchase. I do have a noisy seat (back support sounds like a grunting pig) and an annoying rattle from the bed. (You hear it after rowing down the rear window.)

A lot of gadgets and switches etc. Steep learning curve learning how to control the radio with your iphone and apple car play. But it does work!

These are minor issues and does not distract me from the truck.

Of the 1500 miles, I maybe put 250 miles on it. My son did the rest of the miles. He'll wont tell me where the keys are! :)

Hybrid is completely automated. Average mpg in ECO mode is 21 mpg (90% highway, 10% city). Better than the 2006 Tacoma I traded in for it.

Take the jump and never look back!

And it is scientifically proven a black platinum is faster and gets better mpg than any other color for 2023.
