Glancing through your posting history, I think you are either extremely scared that an unlikely event will happen to you or just a fear-monger.

Either way, you will make a precious addition to my ignore list! Cheers

What's nutz is the now discontinued Titan as of pretty much now, seems to have been a decent V8 gasser. Beauty is skin deep it seems!

Toyota deserves this. This is the second most disappointing vehicle I’ve owned….the winner being a Ford 6.4L diesel.

Your listing isn’t reliability though…that’s just overall rankings from Consumer Reports

There are Kia’s on the road with over 100k miles on them with no issues. Does that make Kia a reliable brand? Not yet.

Toyota consistently makes vehicles that stand the test of time. That’s where I bank my money.

CR has yet to provide me with a meaningful ranking of anything, not even for something as consequential as a washing machine.

Million different ways you can be hit cant judge something just off the small overlap, I got struck by a 18 wheeler (t-boned back in 12 and have been in 2 head on collisions in my life) and they where in moderate to shit vehicles as far as rating (one had no driver airbag lol) I buy salvaged cars for a living on the side and you see some bad stuff that it doesnt matter what the rating is on the vehicle all about the conditions

Historically, Consumer Reports have done everything they can to rate Toyota as poorly as possible. Look at the old video of the 2nd Gen Tacoma…great marks but bashed it from top to bottom.

CR has nothing creditable to say about the majority of Toyotas vehicles…not a source I would trust…

I used to be one of the biggest Toyo fanboys around, constantly overlooking the facts that their trucks were pretty consistently middle of the pack or lower in payload and towing and last in tech/features because of the rock solid reliability. The new Tundra changed things for me. Before the truck was released I had a firm plan to trade my ‘21 Pro on a new ‘23 Pro. Then the truck came out. The first thing I noticed is that it is the ugliest pickup on the road. This was confirmed when I test drove a ‘23 Pro. The second thing I noticed was the significant reduction in interior space. During the test drive I tried to get myself excited about the new truck but the over abundance of cheap plastic, rattles, and faulty weatherstripping were impossible to ignore. There were also some obviously inconsistent gaps in body panels. Just because I asked the salesman after the test drive what I would have to pay to drive off in that truck today (sticker was about $75k. He told me he had to get 85k. I laughed at him and told him I could get an HD Duramax for that price and have a much more capable truck. He said “But it won’t be a Toyota!”. I never would have believed even then that it not being a new Toyota truck would be a good thing. Then the major engine problems started and I have never been more happy I did not buy a certain vehicle. It’s painfully obvious that Toyota cut a few too many corners with this new Tundra.

So I ended up trading the ‘21 Pro for a ‘24 GMC 2500 AT4 Duramax. There are 2 things I miss from the Tundra; the back window rolling down and the doors unlocking when I grab one of the front door handles ( on the GMC you have to push a button). The GMC is superior in every other way, not just payload and towing. I know a lot of you guys who own a 3rd gen Tundra haven’t had any issues and I’m happy for you, but even Stellantis and Kia make some vehicles that are flawless and are loved by their owners.

Flame away if you must but historically the only reason to buy a Toyota was reliability. Now that Toyota has sacrificed QDR for profit margin I won’t be buying any more.

I am not going to flame away at you but I would like to point out a few things for the sake of conversation…

USA quality standards has gone down the tubes…and to be frank we should be f$&@ing ashamed of it. This year due unfortunate luck I have driven a lot of brand new 1/2 ton rental trucks. They are ALL garbage and they all rattled and all had cheap plastic (F150, Ram 1500, Nissan Frontier, I know not a 1/2 ton). My 2020 is of much better quality PERIOD than any of those 2024’s. My cousin bought a new GMC Denali pickup in 2023 and the transmission blew out by 13k and he doesn’t tow. My friend is on his second transmission in his 2019 Chevy 1500. Bottom everyone’s quality is terrible these days. So I am not arguing that Toyotas quality hasn’t dropped…

This next part will be more of a defense of Toyota but I believe it a very strong point…

Due to standards set forth by ridiculous government standards, Toyota has been forced in unfamiliar territory (truck segment). Their truck line have historically been simple, highly reliable, and really not competitive with the competition in any way. But interesting enough the combination of those 3 things have made them more competitive than they should have been; HOWEVER this strategy doesn’t make for better MPG’s therefore Toyota had to adapt (forced into that territory).

Any many people on this forum and other Toyota forums complain and have complained about the archaic nature of Toyota trucks. Now there is plenty of modern garbage in these trucks and the sky is falling…what gives here??

The plastic in my Frontier is anything but cheap. The new gen Frontier interior is quite nice actually. Got 33K miles in it. Not just a test drive. Nothing has cracked or fallen apart in over 32 months of of use and I'm not hanging out at the mall. Ha!

My buddy has a 2024 Tundra that I have been in a few times. I can’t tell any difference between the two (interior plastic wise) in all honesty.

I will say the Nissan was the nicest of the rentals from a “solid” feeling that the Ford and Ram lacked. A family friend has a Pro4X and it’s really nice. But again my 2020 feels more solid than any of them. Hence my initial thoughts about quality in general decreasing…

I do not put much credence in the CR report. CR extrapolates 2024 Tundra reliability from its current 2 recalls using the recalls in the first 2 years of a new gen model. The recalls in the 2024 Tundra consists of the the unexpected forward movement when stopped in neutral (a transmission ECU software fix is available) and a label with incorrect load carrying capacity (a new label was mailed). Neither of these 2024 Tundra recalls are a worry for me. Both the GMC and Chevrolet 2500s scored by CR with the highest rating each have 2 recalls and interestingly have no safety ratings. Don't know why I am wasting my time on this article.

Nissan engineers added sound deafening on the new Frontier and the cab sits on hydraulic cushions. Very quiet cab and quite pleasant to drive on longer trips. The Pro4X is nice and fairly reasonable cost in the midsized class. My SV was only 36K. Not bad nowadays. Heh

If I were to get back into a midsize I would actually go with the Frontier. I didn’t know about the hydraulic cab mounts…that’s pretty cool.
