I'm over do for a coolant change and it looks like I'm going to need some new tools. What size socket dues the block drain take? Are these known to get stuck and brake off they look good but. How hard are they to fix if broke? Looking at the radiator drain cock looks cheep anyone have a part number for replacement? Anyone make a aluminum replacement radiator? Truck is a 2017 5.7 thanks.

I just did mine few weeks ago. Used 10mm wrench with about 2ft extension. They're hard to get started, a little scary actually. You'll need to get some wheel covers off.

My 4.6L took 3 full jugs and a quart after draining radiator, expansion tank and both sides of the engine block. Driver side drained a lot, passenger side maybe half a cup.

Do you see a need for a coolant funnel kit or another way to bleed the air?

These are the block drains correct? What happenes, you turn the bolt and the coolant comes out the tube? Im getting ready to do mine soon and curious if I should find a hose to fit over the tube so that I dont get coolant everywhere, or does it drain straight down with out hitting anything?

Correct, those are the ports. 10mm socket. It'll most likely spray in the general direction of the squirty thingy. You'll probably want to stick some sort of tubing on them to keep it clean. It'll be gravity-fed, so you can imagine what the pressure will be.

After draining and filling up, I had minimal air bubbling out when starting the vehicle. Pump didn't even grind or anything.

If you want a quick look-over, go here and scroll almost all the way down. You'll find me changing it.

Theres also a good video out there showing the procedure. Here's what I've been following. I drained everything cold, because I didn't want metals expanding and making it harder unscrewing brass plugs.
