Transmission cooler lines. It goes to the top of the engine snaking towards the front transmission cooler. Starter bolts are right behind that hose. There are like 3 brackets that hold it down, if you needed to know.. maybe TMI... LOL.

If it was my truck, I would just compress and slip that stock clamp up the line and take a aftermarket screw clamp and install it where the stock one was. Then keep an eye on it.

Looking closer at the pic, someone has moved those clamps in the recent past. Any idea why? That might point to why it is leaking, thwy might have tore the hose when pulling it off the nipple.

@pickeledpigsfeet beat me to it, lol It almost looks like that top hose has been pulled back somehow. The bottom one looks good. They both should be pushed all the way in.

I'd measure the rubber hose for length and diameter. Run to my nearest parts store and buy a new length of it and some appropriate coolant. Swap the hose and top of the coolant.

So....maybe I'm not visualizing this correctly, but on my truck with the Tow Package and transmission cooler, those lines have transmission fluid in them. Is it possible that the OP's truck may not have the Tow Package/transmission cooler? I would have to agree that what's pictured does indeed appear to be coolant.

Yes that is correct... tow package does come with transmission cooler which is what that is. I do believe it is transmission fluid caked with dirt and other road debris...

I'm seeing dried, crusted, pink coolant. I'd checked the water pump seal actually.

LOL, Toyota Transmission fluid is red, lol.... although I have to admit the white crusted edges would lead me to believe it is actually coolant, which is the track you're on... I'm on the fence about it, but would say it is transmission fluid from the pictures.. if he tracks higher and sees crystalized residue higher, then it might be coolant.. Issue with pictures like these, and nothing against the OP, is that we get a 1D picture and we can probe as far as that goes, but no concrete answers...

@Black Wolf I don't know about all that... since its more towards the back would have residue toward the skid plate more than the back of the engine... I'm talking from experience... mine blew and it never reached back there...

That is the hockey puck transmission heater/cooler. Lines to it carry engine coolant (one showing drips). Directly above is the lines for transmission fluid going between the thermostat and the cooler in the front. Thermostat is sandwiched between the hockey puck and the transmission.

Could be transmission fluid dripping down or engine coolant dripping directly from that hose.

I'm not knocking on you... on the contrary, I can agree with you as usually a clean area with a dirty surrounding would indicate possible damage to that specific area. LOL

Yep, I think you're right. If not a slit, then a tear. That's why it's wet around the defect, because it's leaking out of it. If it were leaking from the hose end, there would be a wet trail down to the low point.

@Deelandy , those are formed hoses from Toyota. You can get cheaper bulk hose at the auto store, but it won't fit the same way. Your choice.

This makes sense because I recently had the starter changed, this was done without removing the manifold therefore these hose were removed. I'll try finding a replacement hose.
    Thanks!

It is the trans cooler but on that set up, it takes coolant to the transmission instead of transmission fluid to the radiator.

I know because I did it too... but I didn't remove the hoses, so chances might be the hose isn't properly pushed all the way in, or it is damaged at the spot previously pointed out or was damaged at either end which makes it no good... so you may need to do some probing...

Did a simple hose replacement do the trick for you? I have the exact same leak, and I also did the starter recently. Although the hose appears in perfect condition even after removal. How did you remedy?
