Anyone run either or both of these tires and have an opinion about ride, gas mileage, or performance for either tire? I’m considering buying the 4S for weight and mileage, but am told the XLT will travel as far if not further being a 10 ply on lighter duty truck than they’re intended. I know the XLT is a bit heavier and not sure if that has affected anyone’s gas mileage compared to the 4S. Thanks for any help!

I just put on a set of factory sized at3 4s and haven't noticed any change in gas consumption. I was looking at the xlt but I don't need an e rated tire and the 4s was on sale and got them for cheap. Overall very happy with them. they are quite on the highway and much more aggressive looking than in photos.

If you are worried about gas mileage you do not want E load LT tires, stick with the stock size and standard load tires. E load will reduce your MPG some, more if they are larger than stock sizes.

Thanks for the feedback. They also told me the 10 ply would feel more stable since it was more rigid, but I think that might cause it to feel more bumps in the road as well. The tread pattern looks the same except for the side lugs

I am running the cooper discovery AT3 XLT, rides great hardly any noise. With a heavier tire 275 70 18 I did have to go with the road force balance. As I do with all heavy tires. Very little road noise. As far as mileage I don’t buy vehicles based on mileage. I buy what I enjoy driving, regardless of mileage. Hope this helps

Not so much worried about gas mileage but they were selling more on longevity over life of the tire because Tundra is considered a light truck compared to a 250 and up series it would go further than the 60k warranty. Plus I don’t haul heavy loads so I was looking another advantage other than more mileage. It’s a win win with life mileage and no gas mileage change right? These would be 275/55/R20 and I travel on road 80% and off-road around 20%. Definitely going with the AT3 just narrowing my decision through research. Thanks for all the feedback

I'm curious about the XLTs as well. Not many long term reviews out there. I spoke with two guys at my local tire shop in two days. One recommended the coopers saying they have great life and are really quiet for an A/T. Another strongly recommended against them for poor rubber compound, can't keep them balanced, and wear problems. He said "I've had more people bring theirs in with negative opinions than positive after running them" (speaking about the coopers)

After about 5k miles on the xlt's I'm really happy with them. They ride way better than the p rated Falken's I was running, and have alot more tread.

I think the 4s actually has a higher mileage rating than the xlt. I got mine for $800 compared to $1300 for xlt so it was an easy decision to make image.jpgimage.jpg 275/55r20

I run the 4s. Very happy with them so far. Seem like a great all around tire

The xlts were 265 vs 255 and a hair bigger diameter.

If you tow super heavy or do any solid off-roading go with the XLTs if not the 4s will be just fine.
I have the 4s on my Silverado that does not see off-road other than gravel roads and fields and does not tow.
    They have been great.

I like a bit more greasier tread and side lugs for my truck that sees off road so the XLTs are not for that truck.

Mine are being put on this month. Another question I have is, what PSI are ya'll running on the 275/55R20 tires? The truck came with the Bridgestone Duellers and the outsides have worn terrible which to me indicates not enough pressure or alignment issue. Well, I've had it aligned by Toyota to the specs and it still does it is pointing again to tire pressure. I run what the door jamb recommends 30psi in the front & 33 psi in the rear. I do not want these new Discovery tires to have the same issue. I was going to increase to 35 PSI all the way around and reset the TPMS, but welcome your experience with your trucks.
