I've recently ran into the camshaft leak. I just got the truck 35 days ago and was told the valve cover gaskets were just done and it doesn't leak. Well now it's leaking from camshaft.. wondering the price of this job.. seems to only be leaking on passenger side

It's not cheap--at least a couple thousand I'm sure. How bad is the leak? If your truck is a 2011 and you aren't noticing any oil loss between changes I'd honestly just let it go. As long as it's not leaking enough to be dripping all over your heat shields or hitting the ground I'd just keep an eye on it at every oil change and enjoy the truck. In my opinion, it's not worth paying them to open the top end of the engine up (ask me how I know ).

I will have to agree with @BuckWallace it's probably the cam tower leak, and previous owner did what I thought and just resealed the valve covers and it didn't solve the problem. Really shouldn't be an issue unless it's hitting the ground.

If someone had an aftermarket warranty that covers the "valve cover gasket" - could that also include the cam tower? (I understand that the cam tower is separate from the valve cover) - thoughts?

Question; Say the towers leak and you can audibly hear them ratting during cold starts.
Has anyone experienced total chain loss or phaser failure? Oil type and weight are not a veritable in the question. Failure point is my focus.
