Hi, I have an '06 with an old bondo job repair to the lower part of the passenger doors-below the trim piece. Front door repair is fine, but the rear bondo is cracking. Local shop says $4500 to replace door, paint, etc. rear door - not saying this isn't a fair price, just wondering what those of you that know more than I think about that, because it is a pretty big chunk of cash.

4500 dollars to repair an 06 seems like a lot. I would be looking at junk yards trying to find a door yourself. You might even be able to find one in the same color?

I just got a quote yesterday to get a bunch of scratches fixed on the wife's car. Some can be buffed out, but most were deep enough into the clear coat and even paint that it needs to be sanded back. They don't do small spots and try to blend. They paint the entire panel. So, for minor scratches on all 4 doors, 2 bumper panels and one bad scratch on the hood, it was $3k.
I guess that if they have locate and order a new door, remove the old door, prep/paint the new door, then install it and transfer all the parts/panels from the old door, $4500 doesn't sound super crazy, in comparison to $3k to fix scratches.
I might look into finding and replacing the door myself and then asking for a quote to paint it, if it's not the same color.

Get from salvage, then you should be able to get it painted for $400. That is a stripped down all guts removed, and prepped door. Then you would assemble the guts and such yourself .
