Hello. I just bought a 2024 Tundra and wanting an opinion on what bed cover and racks to purchase. I don’t want to remove existing rails.

    Thank you!

All depends on your use cases and budget. I went with a Retrax and Yakima overhaul HD. Happy with both but was not the most economical of choices.

Figured it was worth the investment as I tend to drive my vehicles 10+ years.

ETA: Retrax is the Pro XR. Mounts to the bed rails, has the track system to mount the rack and is a pretty easy self install. Purchased thru @SantanaRealtruck @ Real Truck.

Diamond back SE and Thule Tracrac, adds about 100 lbs to the truck. Great for the kayaks and carrying longer items.

Retrax Pro XR with Rhino Rack risers and cross bars. I went low for easy loading and unloading of the bikes. If I get a kayak or canoe, I'll have to switch things up.

I added 1"x3" aluminum blocks and bolted through the cover sections. The tracrac wants bed edges so I made them with the aluminum blocks. I didn't want to modify the feet on the rack to reduce the load capacity. I could have cut the feet flat and bolted them directly but you loose the strength where it is needed.

The DB racks are great for adding all sorts of things to customize what you are carrying.

The Swagman racks have done a fine job. Nothing flashy about them but I’ve put them to the test over a few thousand of travels by now. For piece of mind, I use a terry cloth towel around the bikes uptube and the swagman clamp. I also use an additional ratchet strap for each bike. Keep in mind, neither bike on my truck is worth more than $500. I may do things differently as the bikes improve.

Thanks, I see what you did, now.

So .. why Thule instead if Yakima Overhauls?

Way more money for the Yakima. And the Thule is a beast with huge capacity.

I actually bought a Yakima overhaul clone from Amazon - I took a flyer knowing that they had a 90 day return policy and just couldn’t stomach the cost of the Yakima. It is almost identical to the Yakima and I have used it for a couple ski trips and to haul stuff. Really impressed so far.

Thanks for this, I bought my tonneau cover before realizing I had no way to get my canoe on the truck. Your solution is fantastic, without drilling through the truck roof or having to buy a different tonneau.

Yes still very happy with it; the only thing I noticed was that the powder coat flaked off / MINIMAL surface rust on the tie down ends. Emailed the company and they sent me four more. I paid $50 less than it is selling for now, but it’s still wayyyyyyy cheaper than the Yakima. I would be hard pressed to tell a difference between it and the Yakima. Full disclosure = I did buy new stainless hardware for the t channel bolts that attach the rack to the base camp rails.

So not removing the rails, you are going to be hard pressed. Maybe find a last gen bakflip mx4. That’s what I have. I’ll be adding an elevate t slot rail system, then some Yakima cross bars. May had the elevate rack as well. I didn’t want to loose bed space and wanted to keep the oem rails. So that’s what I found. If Thule had a quick release I would have gone with them since I get 40% off with them…

I would definitely not hesitate ; they're probably made in the exact same factory and definitely modeled after each other. I have had no issues carrying kayaks, skis, SUP, etc.

that front bumper is insane. It looks so nice.

Has anyone heard anything from dealers about bumper replacement voiding warranty?
