Saw this 2022 Tundra SR5 4WD w/ 41,000 miles listed for sale at $25k. It KBBs out at $35k wholesale (trade-in value). Somebody tell me what's going on? And at this price why did it not sell in 30 minutes?

I'm not sure anyone stands to benefit; is this a flip w/o registering? (Buy from person A, immediately resell to person B w/o registering) Never seen this before, but it's too good to be true. BUT... sure do like this price.

Doesn’t pass the smell test to me.

CL and even FB Marketplace seem so sketch to me now. I’ve posted so many adds, even for free stuff, on CL lately and it seems like folks are contacting me just to get my address and then ghost me. Not sure what they gain out of just getting my address?

That makes sense, but since I posted this question realized he's reporting the same truck with slightly different pricing and different locale; told me in an email he's in Houston. Then, on his map it indicates Tyler. Obviously this is a scam, but how does this work? Salvage title he's concealing?

Probably serious accident. But it does have TX registration stickers on windshield, so could be legit.

To see if you have nice things that are easily taken from you. Is it really not obvious to some people?

So they say they want to come get whatever I’m posting online, then get my address, and never show up. How are they seeing anything?

if they were tire kicking I could see what you said, but they never even show up.

At the very least I’d ask for the VIN and if they provide it, I’d run a CarFax report. If it sounds too good to be true, it most likely is.

Something is fishy. Price is low. If it's too good to be true then it probably isn't. There aren't any pics where one can see that it even has license plates yet it says in he add that the registration is current. Just that statement makes me wonder why they even put that in the add on damn near new truck. It says that the tires have 91% of the tread left with 41k miles on the truck. Never seen a tire that would last 410,000 miles.

Have them send you a pic of the VIN and check it like @Slag_Dynamics suggested. If the VIN checked out you could look at it and take a friend. Meet them in a public place. I would look at the truck and insist on seeing the paper work so that I could match numbers on the door and the VIN plate. If it looked like it was legit I would meet them in a bank and hand them a check or cash but I would never leave the bank with the cash to give it to them somewhere else.

The way it usually goes is “I can ship the car to you, just pay a deposit and pay the rest when you receive it”.

I usually do a Google lens search to see if the pictures are elsewhere on the web. This passed that test. Radio is tuned to a Houston country music station. Yeah, ask for the VIN.

    Nitrogen filled tires!
scam. probably stolen and has a counterfeit Title. Take the Title to the State DMV and have them check it before you put even a penny down. Lots of this tactic going on and some even make it to auction where the bidder finds out after purchase when they try to Title it that the Title is false - the seller disappears with the money never to be found again and the new buyer can't Title it because it belongs to someone else. Screwed.

I guess I have nice things, but I’m not selling those on FB or CL. I’m giving away old broken TV or old sofa. Or selling things cheap trying to clean up some. I feel there isn’t much more risk than someone driving in my neighborhood and scoping the homes out of looking at Google maps. I have cameras around my house and in garage and no more young kids living with me.

If it has a salvage title and totalled quite badly with extensive damage and then "repaired"....I wouldn't pay $25K for it. Just sayin. If it's too good to be true.....

Just click the red flag and move on from the scams my dude. If it's a deal that seems too good to be true, it is.
