    Hello everyone,
I joined this forum because I'm looking for some help with an issue I'm having with my 2010 Tundra Rock Warrior purchased in 2014. Have never had any issues with this truck.

    (Nov. '23)
    Symptom: Crank, no start
Resolution: Towed truck to Toyota services and they performed Health Check. Came back with DTC B2795 (Key with unregistered key code). They gave me a new key and reprogrammed my existing key. All is good. This resolved my issue.

Asked for explanation how this would happen after almost 10 years of using the same key and they couldn't explain it.

    (Jan. '24)
    Symptom: Same issue....crank, no start.
Resolution: Will need to have truck towed to Toyota again. Not sure what the options are going to be?

Anyone ever have their key unregister before?

    Thanks,
    Barry

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! Have you changed the battery in your key fob?

Thank you! From Wisconsin. Sorry to see Saban leaving. Had a nice run!

I now have 3 separate keys (including the new one they programmed for me) and all of them currently fail.
Just to clarify, this is the key only (I think they call it the transponder).

The tech performed a test on the fuel pump and that checked out ok.

I talked to the tech at Toyota 2 days ago. Of course they need the truck there to look at it again.
He said worst case scenario would involve removing the dash (to get at some part), which is 10 hours of labor @ $169/hr. + parts.
He said best case scenario would be replacing something with the ignition which would be about $600-$700 total.

BIU body Integrated Unit. Essentially the control module for that system. Some times, the BIU and the instrument cluster (mileage verification) have to be sent off, wiped and reprogrammed. They are a bitch to get to and are riveted to the steering column.

    Welcome from Texas!

Update: My wife was able to start the truck this morning.

I never lock my truck at home since it's inside the garage. But before starting the truck this morning, she locked/unlocked the truck with the key fob (that is separate from the key with the transponder in it)...possibly resetting the anti-theft protection?
So something must be triggering anti-theft to engage before I start the truck at times?

Not sure if this makes sense when it happened for the first time in Nov '23 and the Toyota tech came back with the code indicating that the (DTC B2795 key with unregistered key code)?

Do you leave the key in the ignition overnight?

If I do that, I get the crank, no start as well.

This was designed like this on purpose. It's normal.

Just remove the key and reinsert it and it wakes up the immobilizer.

Bad news. The crank/no start situation is back as of Jan 22nd. Unfortunately, we are not getting as lucky for it to magically start up again...despite trying what we thought was the solution last time.
Fortunately, it happened when in our garage again. Will need to have it towed to Toyota dealership to have them take a look at it again. Will update with results.

Not sure what to make of this but here is what Toyota tech found this time…see images for detail.

Not sure why nothing was found with fuel pump ecu back in November?

I’m questioning the new alternator as my battery was drained from all of the failed starts I was attempting over the last week.

Please keep us updated. Did the fuel pump ecu fix the issue or are more $'s due. I have a Corolla that recently presented the B2795 code but eventually started and hasn't repeated. The dealer was headed down the same path as your Tundra so I'm very interested in your path and outcome. Best wishes. Thanks!

Update: Replacing the fuel pump ecu did not fix the issue. They are now going to replace the fuel pump. The new fuel pump should arrive tomorrow.

Replacing the fuel pump fixed the issue (at least for now).

Pretty frustrating experience overall. Not sure if mistakes were made during the fuel pump diagnosis but I do know they made a mistake in recommending a new alternator.

Even though they suggested replacing the alternator, I did not authorize it. Thankfully, my suggestion of replacing the battery first resolved whatever issue they were seeing with the alternator...pretty scary they recommended replacing the alternator for $1273.
It's also difficult to understand how they diagnosed this as a key code registration issue (in November) and actually reprogrammed the keys.

Thanks for the update. I can appreciate the frustration. It sounds like the misleading key code B2795 had them locked into a rabbit hole. I wish you the best - meaning problem hopefully solved.
