Might help by seeing good quality pics of the damage to then offer suggestions.

According to how bad it's cut, might have to do more than splice. Since we are only talking 2 conductors, unless the connector got screwed up also, splicing should work fine. I would fix it for the long haul how ever you choose to splice it. Those 2 conductors head back into main harness IIRC and you don't want to buy that whole harness.

No wire nuts. Use an antivibration crimpable butt connector instead.

Personally, I would be splicing and see how she does.

Curious, did you recently have timing belt work done ? If not routed back properly, a drive belt can definetely do that kind of damage !

If you do not know the past history, I would suggest going to Toyota Corp site and registering an account. Once you have your VIN # entered, you can check Service History if it was done at a Toyota Dealership. It might mention timing belt service and when done.

    Toyota Owners Registration

The schedule for Tundra timing belts is 9 year/90K miles. So yeah, you are a tad overdue if never done :)
Very costly if it breaks :spending:

I can't recommend enough, if you have no service history, you really need to check the timing belt. This is easily done by popping a couple of the bolts off the passenger side timing belt cover and inspecting the belt.

You want to make sure yours isn't dry and cracked like this: https://www.tundras.com/threads/4-7-timing-belt.14118/page-10#post-2384391
    Or worse, like this: https://www.tundras.com/threads/4-7-timing-belt.14118/page-9#post-2350905

If the belt breaks - as it has on a number of people who've posted here in the past - your engine is FUBAR. It's probably the most important thing in the engine bay you can check.

More likely that wiring issue and who knows what else a previous owner could've done.

Better take a look at that timing belt as others have mentioned. Some say look on passenger side. I looked on driver side by removing 3 10mm bolts on plastic timing belt cover and just gently pulling cover back enough to see belt. Just look for cracks or other damage. Wouldn't want to see you on here posting about looking for a new engine.

IIRC, there should be a clip somewhere to retain the wires so they don't get eaten/cut. Make sure you use it, or zip-tie the wires out of the way so this doesn't happen again ;)

Only other thing I'd tell you is, if they're not insulated butt connectors, you may wanna either dielectric grease them, electrical tape them, or something else to keep oxygen and water out. Last thing you need is the wires corroding and you're back in this boat again a year or two down the road.
