I have a Platinum CMLB and last week I started to notice a creaking noise at slow speeds from left side front (5 miles or less) when turning left or right. The best way to duplicate the noise would be when pulling into a driveway or a parking spot. It will do it going forward or in reverse. If anyone in the forum has experienced this and found a fix please let me know. I'm going on a road trip in 20 days. Approximately 5K miles round trip. I know I will have to take it to the dealership but right know I don't have any free time.

could be skid plate if your truck has it, fairly common on earlier gens especially with the TRD plate. Other than that I would check torque on suspension and steering components up front.

I do have the TRD Skid plate and Cat plate. I thought that's what could be making the noises. I'll see if I can take the plate off today and drive it without it. Thanks for the input.

check torque of course. Dealers have been known to fix with some type of spacers and felt on points where it is rubbing and making noise. Here are some threads to review

Thanks a lot. There's a lot of good info in those threads. I'll try to find something to put between the plate and the frame. Hopefully that gets rid of the noises.

It was the skid plate rubbing. Installed spacers with insulation on them and I didn't hear the noises afterwards and still don't hear the noises anymore.

I have the exact same issue but have no skid plate. I have a platinum but did install the cat shield from taco tunes. You guys think that’s having a similar problem as the skid plate creaking?

I get that too. Doesn't bother me much, though.

I have the cat shield from taco tunes too, so it's possible.

Checking in on this thread. I'm getting the same creaking at slow speed, and have installed the taco tunes cat shield. Wondering if anyone has discovered any new sources over the past year or so since this thread was active. Thanks!

Spacers behind skid plate and proper torque specs is the fix

For me the noise still continue. I find that it might be that round black metal cone cap in the middle of the wheel. After i installed spacer it might be rubbing. Also i installed some 1" spacers. The bolt is sticking out ever so slightly and mighy be rubbing on the wheel. Could be that too

I just installed the taco tunes cat cover and am getting the creaking as well. It’s definitely the cover for me.

I have the TRD skid plate and the TT cat shield. I have wicked creaking from them so I cut rubber gaskets to see if that will stop it, I’ll do it this weekend.

Guy after month of just living with the noise.......i found the answer actually in this same forum.....its this ...see photo.....i went under n push on the driver side cv axle...i notice is super loose and make this clicking noise just like when i went over bumps.....it will get worst over time. Now even with perfect alignment and rotation the wheel will shake on highway..........its something call needle bushing. Alot of guys actually mentioned it on this forum........now am thinking either go back to dealer or just have someone replace it

I have a rubbing/popping noise that is audible from inside the cabin when turning at low speeds like mentioned previously. I have not had anyone outside the truck listen to see if they can pinpoint the issue. I’ve rolled down all the windows and turned the steering wheel right and left with no noise picked up from inside the truck.

like I said, only happens when pulling in/out of driveway when turning at low speeds. Do not hear it at all when doing regular driving.

are we thinking this is a front skid plate issue or does my symptoms seem like something else? Any help is appreciated. It’s starting to drive me nuts. Seems like it just started a few weeks back and I have 12,500 miles on my 2023 trd off road.
