Can a 2021 SR5 be retrofitted with cross traffic alert system ? Are there any after-market kits or is this a dealer only fix?

The BSM and RCTA use the same sensors, RCTA mode is activated when the truck is put in reverse. I don't think it is as simple as flashing the ECU to expose the menu options needed for managing the sensor. It would also need the nonmetallic bumper in the rear allowing the radar signal to penetrate it and the cabling need to power the sensors and interpret the sensor output. I think each sensor is $500 to $1K each; when you start adding all the other parts together and I would be surprised if you could get it for any cheaper than $3K. I'm thinking $5K to 7K including calibration and flashing.

I've seen a few aftermarket kits available on A/V sites and stores, none of the brands I've seen inspire a great degree of confidence for safety products. I would stick to OEM parts if possible.

Stay tuned. Over the next couple weekends, I’ll have some more info. Working on it for my TRD Pro.

I have the same ? i have spent a week searching the net for a aftermarket BSM system for my 2016 Tundra that actually works under $500.
I get a lot of bad reviews on most that are affordable, also most are not compatible with metal bumper. Can someone give me a good affordable one that does the job it's supposed to do.
