Has anyone else experienced this when going up a hill my truck will downshift and rpms will raise to maintain speed but once leveled back out my truck should go back into overdrive and rpms should drop back down, but mine will stay in that high rpm range and not go back down almost like its stuck in that gear anyone else experienced this? Occasionally, yes. Not often enough to bother me to the point that I want to make any more tuning adjustments though. I’ve got it so it shifts so well the other 99.4% of the time, I’m a little afraid to tinker…

For grins, try driving in S6 and see if it does the same. Mine only does it in D.

There are different tuning tables for these, but not some specific things aren’t tunable in each condition.

Be careful using 'S' Mode! You run the risk of actually being able to control when your transmission shifts! You'll be able to choose how long to stay in a particular gear. Eliminate the constant downshifting that prevents the Torque Converter from locking up, so heat build-up is reduced! You'll also reduce wear on your brakes and increase the overall enjoyment of driving your truck!:D

I have been using "S"equential mode in S6 when on long trips...you should be fine...the reason why I use this tactic is precisely the reason you're asking about...it's annoying and doesn't make sense to me...but S6 rocks and I even monitor transmission temperatures and it does nothing that makes me concerned...

Normal. And that can happen quite a lot in driving and especially on cruise control depending on grade, load and if you are running heavier tires/wheels. That constant shifting back and forth is not good, so you would be better in S mode when you are in conditions when it happens.

    Understood...it's not uncommon...the work-around is using S4-6 (unless you're a column shifting transmission)...

    Too many, but not enough....
Column shifter has a toggle switch for s mode too.
