What is the cut-off date for ordering a 2024? I've got a couple of life events that have to fall in place before I can make my planned purchase, and I anticipate those being completed approximately end of May. I have been searching local inventories looking for a 1794, 2WD with the color, package, and options that we want; haven't had any success to this point and beginning to think ordering may be the only way to get exactly what we want. Thus the quest regarding cut-off date for ordering. Thanks in advance.

Kap1--Thanks. I didn't know they didn't have an ordering process. Guess I'll spend time perusing the allocations spreadsheet. Learning process for me since I'm coming to Toyota for the first time.

Kap1--How frequently is the allocation spreadsheet updated? Very helpful, and able to find some potentials. Appreciate your assistance in guiding me to it. Unfortunately, only one available in our desired color (Wind Chill Pearl) in all of Texas in RWD. Lots in Smoked Mesquite, Midnight Black and Celestial Silver.

A small clarification, can’t order packages but you do custom order everything from the accessories list.

I'm not familiar with the allocation process. Do the dealers have a choice in the colors they receive in their allocations? Do they select the packages on the vehicles? Or does the factory push to the dealers based on their internal determinations of what is appropriate? Sorry for all the questions, but trying to understand how it works. Thanks for bearing with me in my learning curve!

    It's random.
Dealers submit their wishlist, and Toyota tries to sometimes send them something close to that wishlist...

Kap1--Thanks for your insight and responses! Certainly gives me a better understanding of how they work.

To find what you want, your best bet is to scour that Allocations spreadsheet and contact dealer that has your truck...

I wouldn't just place "an order" with one dealer and sit there and wait... It could be months or years until they may or may not get something similar to what you "ordered"

Understand. As you suggested previously, I have filtered the spreadsheet for my region, then further sorted for colors; your suggestion was excellent. I just had to understand how the "system" worked in the Tundra realm. Packages for the 1794 version seem to be pretty consistent with accessories being the only significant difference in vehicles. While we have preferences for colors, ultimately it will depend on pricing and proximity. The current listing has only one vehicle in all of Texas that is our preferred color--Wind Chill Pearl--and it's 650 miles away in Amarillo. We have time on our side and if it takes a couple months for something that matches our preferences to come available, then we can take that approach as well. Our desire is to purchase before the 2025 model year changeover.

And why are you trying to buy before the 2025 model year?

I'm specifically waiting to see if 2025 would offer any decent upgrades and build quality improvements.

2024 is... Well, may still have some glitches from the initial release. As of now, 2024s still have flimsy door and window seals, wind noise reported by some, throttle lag, etc

Not true. I ordered my Highlander with Toyota when I wanted it and how I wanted it as long as it fit their build. This was during Covid and it took 6 months to get here due to factory shutdown but they do accept orders that way.

I'm satisfied with the packages and options as they exist--assuming I can get the package I want in the vehicle I want. Aside from that, upgrades in options typically mean a significant price increase--and there's always a price increase in succeeding model years. Lastly, there can be some significant savings with end-of-model year discounts. At 76 and in retirement, I have to take a slightly different approach in purchases. Your point is well taken regarding wind noise, door/window seals and throttle lag; I'll have to research further. Thanks

If you want, I'll sell you my 2022 1794 edition cheap. Oil changed every 5k miles, only 11k miles, has camper shell for secure storage. Does come with additional features such as lots of wind noise on the highway, and differential whine above 76mph - all at no extra cost!

Oh... And engine bearings may fail as well as it's within the suspected build date range

Kap1--That's a VERY generous offer, but I'm afraid I must decline. I'm sure you understand? :)

Seriously--I haven't read anything about differential whine. Is that something common in the Tundra? The other aspects I have read about on here.
