    Hello all,

Been lurking for a while and finally decided to make an account and post something. I picked up my sr5 on the 3rd, so far loving it. I remember a post with dashcam install discussions but I can't find it anymore. Thought I'd post how I installed my dashcam for any of those still trying to get some ideas. The dashcam I used is the Thinkware U1000 2 channel with the hardwire kit.

I bought some wire taps off Amazon and tapped into the existing dashcam connector in the headliner. It was a pain to remove that plastic thing on the roof, had to tug on it really hard from the front but eventually it came off. I peeled back the plastic cover on the connector and tapped right into it. Looking at the connector with the pin all by itself to the right this is the order. Leftmost pin = Constant, Middle pin = ACC and rightmost by itself is the ground. I ran the rear camera wire through the headliner using a really long borescope camera from amazon, made it way easier. I mounted it using a quick 2 min part I designed and 3d printed, worked perfectly. Here are some pics.

Good job, I was going to do the front, but you inspire me to do a rear camera as well, what do you do when the back window rolls down?

It's actually held onto the headliner. Kinda wedged between it and the window rubber trim with the piece I made. Window works fine and the camera stays in place.

makes sense, hard to tell in your pic, need to check out the headliner and weather seal and come up with something to mount as well, is your 2 cameras a single unit, or 2 diff units/cameras?

Its the thinkware u1000 2 channel. It's two separate cameras connected with a cable between them. The one in the front being the main one that records.

Works good and no shake. The window seal holds it in place nice and tight

Awesome, glad someone used it. I like the idea and as my back window is tinted I can't, or won't use a suction cup mount for the Garmin.

I installed this same front and rear U1000 last month as well. I bought this bracket and could not for the life of me figure out how it worked. I ended up using a blank binder clip and it worked perfectly.

Works great, had it in my 07 Tundra and will reuse it for my 23.

Would suggest getting the 1" version, the 2" is a bit much IMO

I've looked pretty much everywhere and couldn't find an answer. My Tundra came with the OEM dashcam, however I want to add a rear one. Has anyone tried to add one to the OEM dashcam? Or is the OEM single channel? I'd hate to remove it, but with the number of miles I drive, a rear one is a must.
    thanks

I was going to ask which one you used. I was thinking the 2" might work best for a Garmin Dashcam 47, but I will take your word on the 1" model.

    Thanks again

As promised, here are pictures of the rear mount, I have the larger one at the moment, guess I should order the smaller one now while I run some wires

Thanks! I wondered how hard it would be fab one-up myself, but then I don't have any breaks and have no inclination to make a DYI one.. So I guess I answered my own question. :)

I know the different trim packages have different mirrors, I did not find a mirror mount for my V1 RD that would work with my truck.

I went with a Blendmount for my Blackvue DR-900 which works well, just need to find/create a harness that ties into the existing wiring above the sunglass holder.

Here's some pics I shared from another thread: https://www.tundras.com/threads/rad...view-mirror-instructions.118274/#post-3042959

Did you use the integrated USB, add a fuse, or go the harness route?

I used some wire taps into the connector in the headliner.

I'm trying to come up with a plug-in-play kit, similar/identical to what @Maharisc did in this post, ordered the 12v to 5v USB and connectors with wires, I'll see if I can come up with a price for members on here!

Can I ask what fuse did you put the add a fuse into for constant power ? I'm also not sure what fuse to use for the dashcam. The company I bought it from sent me a few different types but said to use a fuse from the glove box. I haven't seen any unused fuses in my glove box though.

What camera wiring kit do you have? You can use an add a fuse kit to tap into one of the existing fuse slots. There are several that are constant. Someone else posted they used AMP1 for constant and that’s what I ended up using.

    Thank you.
I have the kit that came with the thinkware u1000 camera and thinkware extended battery pack. Needs to be hardwired. I bought it from blackbox my car. They weren't really of help when I asked them questions about the fuses.

I plugged the add a fuse into one of my auxiliary ports I believe. I’ll take a look when I have a chance. I had to pull a spare fuse out of the fuse box under the hood because the ones they send you don’t fit the add a fuse.

Also, I’m 2.5 Gen so it may not be the same fuse spot as a 3rd Gen. But it might help you figure it out

I installed my Viofo A139 Pro over the weekend, wish I took some pictures during. Instead of the USB cable I wanted to use their HK3-C hardwire kit that needs battery, switched, and ground.

I found out Subaru uses a the same 5 pin connection that Toyota uses up in the headliner for a mirror harness #H501SSG010. I cut off the other plug, removed the 2 extra wires, and spliced the remaining 3 to the hardwire kit making it a nice and easy install.
