My buell xb fits in the 6.5' bed of my '02 with the tailgate up, but my 8' ramp doesnt.

I have a crew max and use a ready ramp. It’s ok to have the tail gate down…

Have you ever tried placing the bike at an angle to see if the tailgate can close? I have a Speed Triple R which would be similar in length, give or take a few inches.

yeah I have, but I never saw the point. Bike is secure and the truck drives the same with the tail gate up or down.

Not a sport bike, but my old dirt scooter fit straight on with the tailgate in halfway mode. Not sure what the wheelbase difference is between a sport bike and dirt bike, but I don’t imagine it’s much longer

The wheel base on my motorcycle is 57.1 inches.

I plan on loading it up like that, tailgate half down. I ideally want to use a TRS system and a hitch cargo basket to hold the stand, ramp etc.

my dirt bike is about 7’ overall. I do the kitty corner thing as others have suggested, close the tail gate and throw all the rest of the junk in there. the corner makes a nice wheel chock keeping the front wheel from moving and loosenimg the straps. This is a DC tundra.
Also did this with my Tenere 700 no issues.

How are you securing the tailgate in the halfway mode/open? Have a 1700 mile trip coming up hauling my FZ-10 and may try this.

I used to have an FZ10 and a Double Cab, I fit that bike in the back with the tailgate up and the bike just slightly angled no problem.

Nice! Thanks for this, haven’t had the bike in this truck yet. I have some stuff to place next to it too, so not sure if I’ll angle it. Sort it out when I load it.

Meat to ask you, is your wheel chock mounted to the bed and who makes your bed extender? Looks like it is also a ramp?

The Pitbull TRS is nice, but obviously you'll need the tailgate to remain down if you use one. You won't be backing your bike up the ramp.

I use a baxley sport chock, it’s awesome. You can roll the bike into the chock and it holds it up right no issues while you get the tie downs handled.

the bed extender is made by ready ramp and also acts as a ramp, holds like 600lbs

I've never put the bike in the bed due to my RTT, so I use a Black Window carrier. It's easy & works like a champ!!

My S10 ZR2 successfully shuttled an R6 and a GSX-R 600 (together side by side) plus ramp, front and rear stands (x2), gas can, and canvas gear bag. Tailgate down. You’ll have plenty of room in the bed of a DC.

I’ve looked at those too! Still considering one of those too! Do you have different leaf springs or air suspension to keep the back from sagging?

Nice bike by the way

you can also get roadmaster active suspension. It’s an add on for the rear leaf pack, only takes about 1 hour to install. Search RAS on the forum here. My dad put it on his tundra when they tow their camper. Practically eliminated the sag they used to have.
