    What’s wrong with stock?
Has anyone else been called by their dealer for the engine recall? I received a text to call about an important recall today. When I did call and spoke with the person scheduling for the recall I was told that I would have to leave the truck with them for 2 weeks so they needed to get the rental cars lined up for those affected. All the lady said was that it was about the motor. Has Toyota started the engine swap?

The Toyota app shows no remedy for the engine. IMG_5403.jpg

I don’t want to take it in it’s for a short block. The app also shows a remedy for the gas line, but I can’t see that they need to keep vehicle for two weeks to complete that. IMG_5404.jpg

TRD Air Filters, Front door windows tinted to match the rears. Wheel locks, Talons Garage cat shield, Tyger Automotive soft tonneau cover, WeatherTech floor mats with Tuff Skinz Custom Emblem kit, Toyota OEM Emblem Black Out kit. AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
    What’s the question?
If Toyota or your dealer called for the motor swap out than yes. Your dealer must be getting a shipment of motors.
Not sure why you are asking about a short block? Toyota stated a full engine swap out. As for 2 Weeks this will probably change as time goes on but since your one of the first Toyota wants to make sure it’s done correctly. So if they need your truck for 2 weeks so be it. You’re getting a loaner. Sounds like your dealer is allocating enough loaners.

The question was if anyone else has gotten a call since they don’t show a remedy yet on their app.

My dealer is so lazy and daft I may have to replace my own engine. They think picking up the phone is a herculean task to be done for dire emergencies. Like they have not met their quota for the month

I called today for an update, as it's been more than a month since mine went in. Got this text message response back:

"No ETA unfortunately. Your vehicle is a priority once the recall launches. As soon as I know more I will reach out."

In other words, Toyota still hasn't figured out HOW they're going to do this recall.

If a vehicle sits unused for months (like 6-8), all sorts of other issues will develop. The gas will have issues. The remaining oil will have issues. The fixtures will have issues. And add to that, we're relying on the dealers mechanics to rebuild/replace an entire engine?! I've heard horror stories about far less.

I'm just about f*cking over it. Yeah, we're talking a new engine. But if it's not for another 6-8 months, I've not received the vehicle I paid good money for just 2 years ago. I got maybe 10% of what I paid for.

    Update***
I called back to schedule the appointment. The scheduling agent told me that I had bring it in for them to see if my vehicle needed the recall. I asked him what they were going to do? No exploratory mechanics. I reminded him that i had received the letter from Toyota and they were not going to tear apart the motor to investigate. I also expressed my concern that Toyota hadn’t released a final fix on their app.

The scheduler called the service manager to get the scoop. He came back all apologetic stating that the woman I spoke to earlier was also a scheduler and not a service representative and that she had misspoke. She was calling everyone on their waiting list, I guess those that purchased from them to schedule. So they have to call everyone back to explain that Toyota has not released a final remedy yet. For the engine swap, nor for the fuel line fix. They have no idea when either will be released.

IF your truck still runs ......drive it till it blows and stop stressing . I am certain the blown engines will get priority

Agreed. If its still running why we panicking?

It’s a thing and sucks for those who’s motors ate bearings…but going off probabilities, your engine is probably not gonna grenade. Drive the shit out of it.

I agree with all of these opinions. Don't stress it.

When mine failed, I was able to make it to the dealer. Most were. Not an issue and you do get a loaner.

My dealer called me about early August and said they were ready to get me a new engine; providing a loaner in the mean time. I declined and traded my 23 Platinum for a 24 Platinum. Somebody else can chance the swapout and what may happen afterwards. And further down the road when trading "60000 on the odo but only 40000 on the engine".

It seems like this is a recurring issue at most dealerships. At Stevinson West in Lakewood, I was told to schedule an appointment online for a door molding issue. I was at the service advisor's desk at the time I was told that and asked if we could just ya know do it now. The advisor begrudgery agreed.

When I showed up for the appointment, I was asked if the parts had been ordered. I had no idea because ya know I don't work there! Of course, the parts hadn’t been ordered, so I had to make another trip back. Only three trips to get a 2.5' long piece of molding replaced.

Last oil change the lube monkey messed up my active air spoiler and had to wait another 2 hours for them to fix that after getting a ride back to the dealership...Got one more oil change there and then that dealership nor any dealership will work on my vehicle again.

That fix has been out for a while now. Had to leave my truck overnight for the fix and bring it in with less than 1/4 tank of gas.

That was the temporary fix. They just wrapped the fuel line to protect it. The permanent fix is not released yet.

I can can tell you that filling the tank is different now after the fix. Auto shutoff behaves differently.

20yr warranty on the engine with unlimited miles, you choose when you want to change out the motor, dealer just informed me, they announced it at the rollout in Vegas, letters to those affected will be sent out.

Are you saying my current original engine is warranted for 20 years, with unlimited miles?

That's weird. I was just at the dealer for an oil change last week and asked specifically about this recall (as well as the engine). They mentioned the final fuel remedy wasn't yet available. Maybe they need to increase their communication efforts among their dealerships?

this is about the fuel tube recall, they aren't giving 20 year warranty for this, lol.

and I doubt your dealer is correct about that anyways, the mothership hasn't said anything about that.

I took my 2022 Tundra to the dealership after it stalled on the highway. I shifted the truck into neutral and attempted to restart it, but there was no response. The power remained on until I shifted the vehicle into park, at which point I was able to restart the engine. This situation is extremely hazardous, as I was unable to restart the truck while traveling at 50 mph and had to coast to a safe location to shift into park. The dealership informed me that we must wait for Toyota to issue a remedy for this recall. I contacted Toyota directly today, and they confirmed that no repairs can be made until the official remedy is released.
