I have heard of people modifying the DECKED systems to make them fit in the 1st gen Tundras (06' and before). Has anyone seen a blog post or website on this?

    Thanks!

I've seen one on youtube but it wasn't about the DECKED system and was in a crew cab, not an AC.

I will be doing this eventually but would like to see someone that has before. Definitely buying used since i have to mod it.

While we can't specifically tell you how to do it, we do know that the system that most people have used to mod for the gen 1 Tundra is the Ford Econoline long bed system. SKU: VNFD92ECXT65

You would need to do some trimming. The main issue is the tailgate area. You have to trim the system to be very close to the ammo cans. You will also need to source the J-hooks to attach it to the tie downs. That's all we got. Hopefully you work it out.

Hey Decked. Was this for an access cab or crew cab?

I like how honest he was about his experience with the Craigslist camper and the go fast camper.

I contacted decked a few weeks back. Greg Randolph assisted me and he was a huge help. I haven’t made a purchase test but he recommended to me (for an 06 double cab) the 2008-2016 for super duty short bed system. He said some trimming would be required. Good luck and if you are willing share some info on install/j hooks that’s you used.

I snagged this Bedslide and Box that was on top of it a way back and was thinking of building a platform over it which would be pretty simple to do.
There just seems like a whole lot of wasted space in a Decked Box setup for my taste.

That and the cost is pretty high. I did my first generation sleeping platform this summer for backpacking trips. Huge fan of canopy camping, just need to make some improvements. Want to keep weight and cost down (like most would).

For me, I was sold on the decked system because it was water proof from rain and the payload on top was just fine. I could easily load dirtbike or quads or trash cans or just about anything else I haul in the bed and have no problem with the decked system. I decided not to buy one new (haven’t found a used one yet) because I’d be ruining my warranty anyways. Just a thought. I haven’t bought it yet mostly because I don’t quite need it yet and I haven’t found one for the right price

They promised one is ‘coming soon’!

@ezdog has the most optimal set up in post #11 which offers max space. You could even do a tonneau over it.

The only thing about mine is that I am not sure that I am keeping any of it yet?

Everything there is a "Spare" for me right now.

I have the spare truck, bedslide and box as I have the 2015 pretty much outfitted for work now too and I have been using it as such and it is a lot more comfortable for long work road trips for sure than the 1st gen though it is not that much better if at all to work out of.

I also need spare space and money for insurance and taxes, etc. to keep them both on the road and I can only drive one at a time unless I tow one with the other, hmmmmm?

Talk about a 1st World Problem!
