My truck was delivered via rail car and now is on a quality control hold. My salesman says this is normal. Has anyone experienced this? What does it mean? Is it a normal procedure all trucks go through?

Did you ever get notice of why it happened? Random QC check, or was something broken and they had to fix it?

I just got notice that my 9/6 scheduled delivery is postponed until - well, no clue until when. I also sold my old truck expecting delivery, so now I’m truckless :/

Are you saying you have been waiting 6 weeks for the QC process to release your truck?

Well that’s a huge bummer. Did your dealership ever tell you what happens when they do this? Is the truck still at the factory being torn down and they are looking for and fixing issues that might have missed during the build? If so, it might not be bad to have one that’s been looked over twice.

My 2021 arrived at the rail yard late Oct 2021 and was put on quality control hold within a week in very early Nov. it sat on QC hold for a month, then turned into a Safety Recall/Stop Sale. Since the ownership of the vehicle never left the control of Toyota corporate, the dealer was never informed what was the projected repair timeline or release date. My new 2021 Tundra was finally repaired and turned over to my dealership and in turn sold to me on March 8th, 2022. If your truck is part of a QC hold start punching your VIN into the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website on a regular basis to see if a recall is involved. Good luck. By the way, in my case, it was worth the wait for the truck.

That sucks :/. I’m set on DC, Lunar Rock, and TRD Sport, and finding one (other than this one) is proving impossible. I really hope this isn’t a big deal and that they can still get me one, but I still have another deposit at another dealership and they are also looking for one for me.

It’s at the rail yard. Dealer cannot get any information. He definitely said there was a quality problem and anything that comes up while it sits also gets attended to. I am glad it’s being fixed now, but waiting and not knowing can be a little stressful. This will be the 4th largest purchase of my life (3 houses are 1-3) so not knowing sucks. Thankfully our current vehicles are doing fine , Subaru Crosstrek (keeping)and GMC Canyon (trading). If it were in a different situation and we needed a vehicle right away then I would have already moved on and bought something else. As it is, waiting is ok.

I need the bed more than I need the cab. I’d get the CM 6.5, but it’s too long to fit the garage.

Honestly, I think Toyota needs to offer just one size cab, and make it right in between the DC and CM. CM is utterly too large - 6ft driver leaves enough space behind for a 7 footer to be comfortable.
