Yesterday, we went up to the Great American Outdoor Show in Harrisburg and one of the vendors was Diamondback. I've been eyeing these up for a while, and they are offering $400 off their HD and SE covers. I like the HD specs but wanted to know if anyone had issues with the Diamondback covers? How water tight are they on the Tundra's? They mentioned that they supply shims to help reinforce the bed caps since they are hollow and can collapse if overtightened.

There are also 2 finishes available, Rugged and smooth. after seeing both in person and talking to the guys at Diamondback, I think I like the Smooth better. Has anyone had issues with the finishes or found one to better than the other?

Even with the $400 off the total for the HD comes out a little over $2000 with tax, which is a lot considering I already have a cover.

I currently have the OEM Tri-Fold cover that came with the truck from new. It works well, but it does leak a little and is nowhere near as rugged as the Diamondback cover.

    Any opinions would be welcome.
    Thanks,

I’ve had the SE for 6 years. Although they weren’t providing shims at that time, the company shipped me shims about three years ago to address support issues I didn’t realize that I had. They have also shipped me replacement hinges and a strap to secure the section of the cover near The cab to protect against it flying off in the event that it isn’t closed properly and the wind catches it at speed, both of these were initiated by them.

The cover has protected my cargo, never leaked and is easy to install and remove. It is well worth the price for the quality and the company that stands by their product.

I've had an HD cover for almost a year and it has been perfect. One of the best things I've added to my truck. They are durable and weather proof, no leaks. I would never buy a soft cover again.
The stainless steel bins are also amazing. I've hauled items on top of the cover with no issues. Their customer service is top notch. I have zero complaints.

A bit of a PIA if you need to use the bed often. You must keep taking the entire thing on and off since the middle is always "locked in" via the clamps. Besides that it looks sharp, water tight, and secures my cargo well. I've had mine for 2 years. Got the rough finish which is my preference.

The bed tub thing wasn't worth it IMO and I shouldn't of bought that accessory.

    Thanks for the info Guys,
    A few more questions,

How many of you guys have the HD?
For the ones with the SE, do you feel that you should have gone with the HD?
The price difference is roughly $400 to get the HD instead of the SE.
Did everyone get the cleats pre installed?
Did anyone have issues with the rails not being ranforced?

SE for 3 years. I got the bin too, which is great for keeping the rear cab decluttered. No issues with water intrusion. No complaints at all. Wonderful when traveling. Mil discount and excellent customer service. Only drawback is when you have to haul something in the bed and its too tall, because you can't de-rig it easily or quickly. You can tie down things on top (400# capy on the SE), and I have done that, but I wouldn't want to go very far or very fast with that arrangement.

Mine can hold 450lbs. I think that's the SE? I walk on it to wash the top of my truck and feel it move/flex. I wouldn’t throw 450 on it. But I didnt see myself needing the sturdier one, and 2 years later I still dont.

I have the 4 cleats pre installed. I sometimes wish/wonder how it would of looked if I opted for more but that's an ascetic thing.

    No regrets. Great product.

What's the going rate for for a used OEM Tri Fold cover?
This may help offset the cost of the Diamond Back.

I have had two HD’s on both a 5.5 and 6.5 ft bed. On a couple occasions I even thought I was close on the weight limit. I will have a third one on my 1794 when it arrives.

I've got the HD, with a dozen factory cleats. I haul on the cover, walk on the cover and have not had any concerns. I've also got the large bin that goes across the bed. It's perfect for my range bag plus other things you may not want in the cab. Like Phrog Driver stated, the only drawback is if you need to remove the cover to haul something tall.

If you can get $400 off, I would jump on it. Diamondback never runs sales online..that I have seen.

I thought it was a good deal as well.
$1589 for the SE or $2013 for the HD
Free shipping or they offered to install for free as well as tour of their facility.
Talking to the guys at the show, they sound like they have great customer service.

Only leak I had was due to installation of the front runner rack. You have to drill the cover. I was able to track down the leak, and more rtv silicone closed it up.

SE here with the diamond pattern surface vs the smooth. I've had it on my truck for about 2.5 years and it has been great. No leaks and very secure. I walk on it to change out light bulbs in my garage ceiling as well as other things where I need a higher platform. I could never see myself hauling over 400 lbs. on the cover so that is the reason I went with the SE. I had the cargo tie downs preinstalled and purchased 4 more that I installed. No disappointments here!

Where are you finding the $400 off discount. Not seeing it on Diamondback website.

It was a Great American Outdoor Show special promotion they were offering when they were set up at the show. I don’t think they advertised it on their website and I’m pretty sure the only way you could get the discount was to be at the show with them last month.

Can someone please measure the Center to center dimension for the Cleat Fasteners?
I currently have them pre installing them, but change my mind and go another route.
    Thanks

Still unsure what you mean; are you asking for measurement from driver side to passenger side center of cleat? Or the distance from bolt to bolt on each cleat?

This should clear up any question?
I need the dimension between the fastener centers?
