How is country music gonna fare with electric Fords? :goingcrazy:

On a side note, is our electric infrastructure set up to handle the increase in demand to "fuel" an all electric car populace?

Good. Maybe I will stop hearing about the space shuttle, or towing planes, or anything else that’s totally impractical for daily use.

The real question is did the Ford tow in cruise control?

This will be a challenge keeping up with the demand. Luckily, most people will be charging at night when electric load is down.

Several times this summer we have broken records on power used. Solar/wind power is very difficult chasing around the grid. Fun times are coming.

Nope. Especially in the winter when people get home from work, plug in the car, turn on all the lights, and crank the heaters up.

The infrastructure to handle all of these electric vehicles isn't in place yet and won;t be for a long time.
They might have to carry generators in the truck beds on long trips to ensure they can always charge up when needed.:rofl:

Yes it is impractical but it was such a good marketing stunt. I wish they would do another stunt with a million mile Tundra.

That's the only way I'd do it. A few years ago I did a lot of research on battery powered vehicles, I even thought about reworking a 1977 Samurai soft top, but after seeing that about the most miles I could travel before needing a charge was about 40 miles and the cost of the motor, controller and batteries, plus a total rework of the suspension due to the weight of all the batteries needed, I decided to just stick with a gasoline engine. As it is, the 1.3 engine in the 77' and the 1.6 I installed in the 78' tin top Samurai get between 28 to 32 mpg. The only vehicle I'd ever think of getting is a Tesla as they get the highest miles between charges, however they are also very expensive, well beyond this old mans income level.

I wouldn’t see any reason that you couldn’t. And if you had a generator with a battery starter, you could probably even have it automatically start when the car power runs down, much like home generator systems.

The country can't even handle some extra a/c when a heat wave hits. How is it supposed to handle millions of vehicles constantly charging batteries? Call me when HFC tech takes over.

Was there anything impressive about the tundra towing the space shuttle? I mean it’s cool but any truck could do it I’m fairly sure. It’s not as if there was payload or crazy traction control or something involved.

No, it wasn't that impressive. I, like @ColoradoTJ , get sick of hearing about it. I thought it was pretty goofy, but people quote that crap all of the time.
