Just had my Toytec Aluma 2.0 installed and it looks like the diff drop was not installed. Since I'm a total newbie with lifts, can someone confirm?

There would be a spacer where the red arrow is. That’s the stock parts. B89378F2-1904-45C2-BE8F-53994B2718DD.jpg

Did you buy the diff drop kit when you ordered the Aluma's?

Yeah it was included in the kit as a line item. I noticed the carrier bearing wasn't dropped and so I checked the differential. I don't think the carrier bearing drop was part of the kit though. I was greasing u joints when I noticed.

Take your tunny back and have the diff drop installed. Don't pay another dime!

It should have come with longer bolts for that as well. Well at least the Total chaos ones come with the longer bolts.

All diff drop kits come with longer bolts otherwise the spacers would be worthless.

The carrier bearing spacer does not come with any of the kits but it's only $13 or so. I assume you did a lift in the rear? Where are you stationed?....if you're still in.

Who sells the carrier bearing drop kit that cheap? Usually the same price point as a diff drop.

    On my way to Lackland.

So the diff drop wasn't installed because it just tilts the differential and takes oil away from the pinion. It was a master mechanic that installed it and said that there's almost zero detriment to the CV axles at the angle they're at and that tilting the differential and changing the fluid level would be more of a concern.

I would call Toytec. They will tell you to install it and why. I would trust them more than most mechanics.

OME Nitrocharger/2612 (front), Bilstein 5100s (rear). Vanguard roll bar modified (by me) to fit over Patriot Stealth retractable tonneau. Aftermarket halo headlights with HID, various LED bulb replacements. 17" Fuel Blitz wheels with some 33" Nitto terra grapplers. Hoodscoop, nfab nerfbars, Bushwacker flares. No-name aftermarket grille, led fender extensions. Black Horse bambi-basher. Various offroad lights.
How much of a lift did you put on? The mechanic isn't wrong below a certain level of lift.

OP you will be fine without the diff drop if you are staying below 3" of lift. Its not needed at that height. Companies like Camburg have even posted to this site saying its not needed or they would sell them with their kits.
