Hi All. Anybody out there with a front hitch ever use a bike carrier on it? I bought the below hitch carrier and it works incredibly well on the rear hitch of the truck, but there are times where I'd rather use it on the front. I'm concerned the front hitch won't stick out far enough for the bike to clear when loading it. Anybody with a front hitch ever use one of these?

I have seen front dirt bike carriers used with great success on some Class C RVs. I have a front hitch on my Tundra and love it, although I don't use it for hauling dirt bikes.

However, please note that the tongue weight capacity from the hitch manufacturer is at 500 lbs. From what I understand that would be with a standard ball length from the receiver. So anything further away than a standard ball is would reduce the applicable hitch weight even more. So it really kind of comes down to are you going to be hauling a 235 lb 2-smoker, or a much greater weight XR 650?

I think you would be fine if in the lower weight ranges for dirt bikes. BUT...the next thing to consider is what will the front end of your Tundra do with an extra 250-350 lbs hanging off the front.

The front hitches are CHEAP and super easy to install. Dealers do not care for them if you don't cut a hole in the skid plate for oil changes, because they will have to take the front hitch off every time. Making a hole for oil changes is also really easy.

Yeah, the bike is only ~300lbs so I should be good on weight IF I don't need an extension. That's what I'm worried about really.
