Was super excited to have purchased the 1794 edition tundra at the end of February of this year. I have literally had the vehicle for under five months and I’ve already noticed issues on the so-called leather seats. Unfortunately I learned the hard way and realized that I was sold synthetic leather, after realizing that there are many areas on the seats that are already peeling highly disappointed as I did a lot of research on the truck prior to purchasing it and literally everywhere it states that it is leather seats no where have I seen that it is synthetic or as they call “flex Blend”

Anyone else noticing this issue already? If so, what did you do to get it fixed? I am literally going back-and-forth between the dealer and the Toyota corporation. I’m still waiting to hear a response as to what Toyota corporation is going to do as I believed that I was purchasing a luxury truck with leather seats, and all the bells and whistles. This is my first major purchase, and I am highly disappointed that I have not even had the truck for five months and I’m already experiencing these type of issues.

as of this moment, the only resolution I was given was to have the seat cover replaced with the same material and get this one time replacement only. Which means that if it happens to any of the other seats, I’m basically shit out of luck.

I have a 2016 1794. Did you purchase the warranty on the seats?

That sucks! I have a 2021 1794 Edition and I really, really hope it has genuine leather! I started searching the internet when I saw your post, and Toyota calls their fake leather, "SofTex". They've been using it since 2012 apparently. The wording for the description for the 2023 Tundra 1794 says it has "leather trimmed" seats. I think any rational person would see that, look at the seats, and conclude that "leather trimmed" means leather seats. I don't blame you at all for assuming your "leather" seats in a $70k pickup are actual leather. I assumed mine were until I saw your thread.

I found a few examples of bigger Toyota dealerships trying to extoll the virtues of SofTex by saying it is just as durable and more eco-friendly than leather.

However, it seems that your seats are not holding up since you mentioned peeling. Since your Tundra is a completely new design, perhaps the new pattern for the Softex has not had all the bugs worked out? And I don't understand how a dealer can say that they will only adhere to the warranty once. I realize seating material is a wear item, but so is paint. If my paint started peeling a few months after delivery, then there is something wrong with it. Toyota can't just say that we will honor the warranty once, and if it fails again due to our incompetence, we won't fix it.

I would have them replace them, and refuse to sign anything that says they won't cover them under warranty in the future.

Please post some pictures! My 2018 (1794) seats are still in great condition.
