I was planning on trading wheels/tires/tpms from my 2020 Crewmax SX with someone's 2021 trd off-road. Will the truck automatically re-learn codes or will they need to be reprogrammed?

They MAY actually need to be swapped. Not sure about 20 to 21 but when I had the dealer swap wheels from the 19 I was trading to my 21, they had to swap them.

The 19 uses different sensors than the 20 and newer. From the 20 to 21, follow the recalibration procedure in the manual and you should be good to go.

Is that only for stock tpms sensors or aftermarket ones too?

Should be both. I am having one hell of a time with mine. I finally got the truck to register them, not I just need to get it to read the pressures. It's been like 500 miles already.....what a PITA!

The 20-21 models with Push to Start use a different sensor than the regular key models. So in this case it won’t be a simple swap and recalibrate because the 21 TRD Off Road has push to start

Well I swapped wheels and all with the 2021. I think his was a push button start, my 2020 is not. Not re-registering, tried following manual. Toyota wanted 1 hr labor $129. So I went to Goodyear, they were unable to scan them with 2 different tools. They offered to replace the sensors completely for $280 I may try another tire place before going back to toyota.

I can tell you that it is a royal pain just to get the registration part done, and then you have to do the drive cycles for the pressures to read. I have over 500 miles and still unsuccessful on mine. Took forever just to get the registration so that the truck sees them to make the light go out.

Is the truck you swapped with having the same issue? Check the TPMS nuts. The one on the left is the nut used with the older sensors. The 20-21 Push to
start use a different part number sensor which uses the taller nut shown on the right. If you have the taller nut on the TRD wheels then you now have the wrong sensorsED1D19C1-CCF3-41BD-9C2E-42E1D8FC10BE.jpg

I have nothing to contribute to this thread except to add TPMS sucks. That is all.

    I have a 2021 SR5 that came with 18" steelies.
I upgraded to TRD Off-Road wheels and had the TPMS sensors swapped from the steelies to the alloy rims.
The TPMS sensors initally worked and after 200 miles or so faulted out and I've had a TPMS light on my dash since.

I'm now planning to get SCS wheels and want to purchase the OEM TPMS sensors that will work with these aftermarket rims.
Can anyone confirm what part # I need?

I researched and saw 20 degrees and 40 degrees etc, but I am still getting confused and I could not decipher which exactly I need. The differing modelas model years in other threads didnt help either:(

I have the part number for the ones that I purchased for my 2020. I'll look for it. @Roman can confirm a part number as well.

I just put those wheels on my MY21 Platinum and used these TMPS sensors without any issues. Mine has the push-to-start, not sure if that will effect whether these will work for you?

Once I did the sensor registration step as per the owners manual, they picked up and started reading pressure shortly after

Ya I think you're probably right...I think the TPMS is different for the PTS vs. traditionally keyed trucks. I'm not sure what the PN is but I'm sure someone will chime in

I'll look into this today. My TPMS reads 50psi for all corners no matter what pressure I run. Not complaining since I only care about the system when the "light" comes on.

I would drop the pressure a little and then do the reset button and see what it does after the drive cycle.
