Not sure if any of you watch Donut Media. I watch almost all their videos. They did a cool series called Hi Car/Low Car where they bought two identical Nissan 350z and modified both. One got nothing but cheap parts, the other got top of the line parts. The idea was to find out along different mods if spending the big money is worth doing for real use.

They just started a new series with the same idea, only using a first gen Tacoma! These guys aren't off road guys but they're giving it a shot and this should be a fun series to watch.

I like these guys. Crazy dry sense of humor coupled with generally good information.

hmm...sounds like a good episode. I'm only 10 minutes in but he's NOT using a spring compressor to remove the springs (bad practice for sure) and then he's measuring his lift with a tape measure from the GROUND to the fender....silly high school kids here. Not sure I can approve of this show and neither should you @Darkness since they didn't opt for a black tacoma.

@CodyP I saw the same rookie moves you did. They're actually hiring right now for a new host, if I knew they'd be doing truck stuff I would have applied even though I hate being on camera. I would have stopped these rookie mistakes. These guys are pretty great though and amusing too.

A black Taco wouldn't be fair, it would just dominate all others even in stock form.

Ok, so who wants to give up the spoiler on that 350z and whether the cheapo mods lasted much longer than the primo mods?

No way man. You gotta watch because it not only tells you what they thought was better but what problems they came across with both the cheap and expensive parts.

Money Pit is another good series they did where a guy tests a lot of aftermarket parts on a Miata to learn if they're worth the cost at all. Its part DIY and part review. He started the second "season" recently and is now building a rally style BMW.

Was not expecting the result on the Taco hi/low. Hoped for better result on the Z, but suspected that was how it'd turn out. :curls:

They've got tires. @SouthPaw and @evilrb are those the tires you guys have/want?

Same company, different style of tire. I have R/T version and they are testing one the A/T versions. If you wanted something slightly less aggressive, the A/T's would be a solid choice but honestly, the R/T's ride as good or better than any other all terrain tire I've tried. I had Goodyear Duratrac's before as well as Hankook ATM's and the R/T's ride better and are quieter than both of those. Makes me wonder if the Kenda A/T's are silent lol.

I love the current HiLow and am a pretty big fan of Donut in general. I wish they would have tested a lunchbox locker though against the ARB. Or mentioned that the ARB inevitably starts leaking and pushing oil out of the diff.

Light bar time! Don't worry, no led bars were rattled in the making of this video.

I personally think the KC setup looks a lot better, but I don't think it's worth the price difference on a daily driving weekend warrior.

I miss the old KC lights on the bed mounted bars from the 80s/90s.
