Just curious- I bought and installed a VLEDS interior 5000k led bulb replacement kit.

The kit came with 4 bulbs for the doors. Every modern vehicle I’ve had has had those lights, but lo and behold, my SR5 does not have them.

Which years/trim came with door lights, and when did it end?

Seems like another cost cut, but It does save maintenance. Sometimes these engineers distract us with something in the package we like such as the 5.7 so we don't look at what is missing.

My 2013 sr5 rock warrior had the door lights as an option on vled as well but my truck does not have the lights. I wonder if it is a package specific feature like platinum only or something.

All I have is the drivers floor, map and dome lights. No vanity or doors.

    ^ What he said.
What's the point of having light when the door is open??????

If you need some light, make your own mirror puddle lights using VLEDs.

    I modded mine for my 2014 SR5.
Tied into the driver's side floorboard bulb circuit.
They dim on when you unlock doors and dim out when you lock doors...

    Alot of them
If they are 194's put them in your license plate lights. As far as the doors, 2010 was the last year that the SR5 models had them. After that they just had reflectors. I don't even think they have reflectors now...I have to look at mine.

Here is an idea. Put an LED Strip under the door and run the wires up to tap into the Courtesy Light inside the door. Pictured is weather proof LED with 3M Tape. Cost around $10 for both doors.

I had them on F150s. I don't miss them at all. The one that gets me is the fact that every other major brand has a drivers side grab handle except Toyota.

because it’s simple, practical, and convenient. When your messing with something at the door (side of the road, parking lot, driveway) and you drop something or your grabbing something out of the door bin, it provides just the little bit of light you need to see into the door bin. Or if you drop something on the ground it’s just enough light to be able to see it……just my 2 cents but to each your own. It just seems like every vehicle back in the day had door lights!! Like everything nowadays you gotta pay for everything.

That is what flashlights are for. I keep a small one in console and larger one in rear door.

Yea stumpjumper, a flashlight is not my first choice, headlamp along with whatever lighting the truck has to offer. I carry a couple of hand held lights in the truck at all times but if I'm working on something at night side of the road, parking lot or driveway, etc a flashlight is probably the last thing I grab..... Stupid to have to grab a flashlight and find something big enough that you could see with the lights that they used to give you on the bottom of the door without having to grab a light for it....imo
