Are the door lock actuators common to go out on the Tundra? Just realized my front passenger door is no longer locking or unlocking as of today. I guess I'll finally get some use out of my extended warranty.

That sucks buddy. I'm not sure about Tundras actuators being bad but I know corollas and camry have that issue regularly.

Is your "auto 4 door lock on D and auto 4 door unlock on P" feature active??

Never had a tundra have one fail, but Toyota’s are famous for actuators failing.

My front passenger side stopped working a year or so ago, now it’s the rear passenger door not working. Unfortunately for me my warranty is up.

My passenger door appears to only work when it is less than 50 degrees and/or low humidity.

Thanks for the responses guys. I've got an older 2004 Corolla that had multiple failures, but this is a first for me on the Tundra. Next oil change is coming up soon (maybe 2-3 weeks), so I'll have it taken care of at that time.

Passengers front has already been replaced, drivers front is acting up occasionally.

Just put 3 aftermarket actuators on my 08. Passenger rear was still working and the dealership I bought the truck from only willing to fix what was broken. I got them to come off the price a little more by doing the work myself. It's very easy to replace them and I was perfectly ok with them being aftermarket opposed to Oem. The Oem ones have a high failure rate. Why not try some other brand? Door panel and related parts are very very easy on the 2nd gen tundras.

Word of advice for anyone who has one that’s failed out of warranty, call Toyota, they tend to goodwill the replacement a lot, they get sent back. My field rep says they still can’t figure out why they fail, apparently it’s something getting on them though through the air.

some fail. Others never have issues. I do know for a fact ive had a few of them that fail were covered in what feels like hairspray.

personally none of mine have ever failed. Even on my corolla with 800k on it

Just had both front door actuators replaced a few weeks ago. Thank God for my extended warranty..if i didnt have it, it would have been damn near $850 to fix at the dealer.

Yep. I have been wondering if my extended warranty purchase was worth it or not. Probably not. But I got a $500 repair when I had no money to spare and a bad door lock.
