Door year compatibility

Greetings all,

I just bought a wrecked 2021 Toyota Tundra Sr (I believe). I am currently fixing the damage and ran into some issues. I am looking for a driver's front door but eBay is giving mixed years.

From what I gather, there was a redesign between 2007-2014 and 2014-2021? It looks like the front doors are compatible between either 2007-2021 or 2014-2021 only?

I will update with fixes and upgrades!!

Was this a clean and non-salvaged title truck? The reason I ask is because some states will no longer insure a vehicle that has been marked as a salvage or totaled title.

 

It was listed as salvage. Once I get it inspected I will get a rebuilt title and should have no issues with insurance. I also have USAA and they are AMAZING when it comes to insuring vehicles; rebuilt or clean. I currently have a rebuilt vehicle insured with them. I think they only pay out a certain percentage if wrecked again though...

 

New steel rear bumper coming in tomorrow!! Gonna slap it on there as soon as it get her.

 

The door shells are the same 07-21. The interior bits are different like arm rests and door cards, but the sheet metal is the same. The whole cab shell remained the same 07-21 along with the drivetrain (small tweaks, but virtually compatible with the exception of some electronics 18-21) with a different front end, bed, bumpers, and interior parts.

 

Wow thank you! I found a lot of 2008 driver doors in my area and on eBay for cheap ($200). I have all the parts to transfer over to a shell if they all line up. This was extremely helpful. Thank you!

 

Someone recently posted regarding their conversion of an early 2nd gen to a 2.5 gen.

I was surprised to see that the doorskins were the same for all Tundras 2007-2021, but it seems to be true! Totally makes sense with the cab being the same thru the entire generation. Toyota did a pretty good job of going from flowing lines to chiseled lines with fairly minimal retooling.

Agreed! I am very happy with this. I found a door from a 2008 yesterday and it fit perfectly. The design still looks great imo

 

Ok but how much did you have to pay for the wrecked Tundra? How many miles.

Door is the same from Double Cab and CrewMax trucks 2007-2021. Starting in 2014, the interior door panel changed a little bit styling wise. A 2008 door should work but you will be moving alot of stuff over. A 2014 and newer door would probably be easier in the long run.
