Does anyone know the steps to take the factory seat cover off? It looks like there are 2 zippers on the back but I’m not sure how to unzip them.

there is a small metal bar that I can feel in my right flank and I’m not sure if something broke.

You're gonna need some hog ring pliers and hog rings to put it all back on..

This a basic seat cover removal video for most vehicle seats.
May not be a total removal, but you'll get the idea...
I used it to install my seat heaters..

@Bmedic50 I have the same issue with the driver seat. What did you do to fix the issue?

Same thing on my 17. It’s been that way a couple of years and I still haven’t gotten around to fixing it.

I haven’t fixed it yet. For now I just wedged a prince of high density foam between the console and seat to add some support and prevent any tearing of the seat.

I also went to the dealer to see if there was a TSB on it but they said no. My thought is to take it to a local upholstery company to redo the foam.

But if more people are having the same issue, Toyota should be fixing it. Does anyone know how to report it?

Which seats do you have (cloth or leather)? Is it the seat back or the seat bottom? I've taken mine apart too many times to count.

Cloth. The issue is with the seat back but it’s the side portion that hugs your flanks

I glued the foam back together with liquid stitch and some duct tape (the stickiest I could find). I watched a few videos and went for it. I didn’t have to undo the hog rings to get to the where the foam was splitting. I hope this holds up until I can get a new seat cushion.

There are no metal bars aside from the outer seat frame and two metal rods running vertically down from the headrest. Everything else is foam.

That can’t be the case since I have metal poking through

The seat back is one metal frame that the foam sits on. The metal that is poking you is the frame that broke through the foam. The cushion need to be replaced.

This is what the inside of your seat looks like. The only thing lacking in this photo are the two foam cushions and the cloth or leather seat cover.

So none of that metal is poking through. There must be some embedded in the actual foam to add support.
I figured the cushion needed to be replaced. Just wand to sure how to do it.

Hmmm. I suppose it’s possible but I really don’t think so. Will be curious to see pics when you get it removed. If you need help figuring out how the cover comes off, just search on YouTube for “Tundra seat cover removal.”

Finally got to this. I used the video above posted by @1lowlife. You only need to remove the 2 straps under the back of the seat and unzip the side with the issue (video @ 12:37).

Once I got in I saw that @Bl^ckTuNdra14 and @Ellis_McPickle were both correct. The metal I was feeling was the leading edge of the frame. You can see how it cut right through the foam. The only thing I can think of is my kids pulling on this portion of the seat when getting in/out. Our driveway is on a slope so they constantly grab the seat.
To prevent this from happening again, I used some high density foam I had from a craft store, cut a large rectangle from it, and shoved it behind that metal edge.
My thumb is on the piece of new foam below. My hope was to provide additional support behind the actual seat foam to prevent it from ripping again. Size was approx 12x4x4 inches.
Once the foam was in place, I used some duct tape over the metal edge of frame to hopefully help prevent it from cutting through again. Not perfect but should be ok.
Next I used some 3M multipurpose adhesive to glue the foam back together. To prevent overspray, I sprayed some in a container and used a paintbrush to apply. Again, it isn't perfect.
I used some more tape to reinforce the seam and prevent the side/flank piece from pulling over. once it tore, it wants to rotate towards the console. Not sure how much this part will help.
Finally I went to the back of the seat and taped the back of the foam to the back to the seat frame.
I can feel the added support in that side now but it otherwise came out well.

I have the same thing and it is killing my back! 2017 Tundra. I am thinking of buying a seat cover and adding some foam for additional cushioning to the area where that metal bar pokes me. It is miserable! I wish we could generate a recall. How do we report this?
