First off, I run a 2013 5.7L crewmax TRD offroad.
    My existing quad is a can-am outlander 850 (~800lbs).
I'm looking to get a second quad for the misses. Likely a Can-am 570.
I have a 5.5x10ft utility trailer. (Tongue weight is 700lbs.)

We are going to be primitive camping while we venture out and ride. What recommendations do y'all have for towing/hauling both quads and camping gear?

The 850 fits in the bed and survived an 8h drive home. I'm not a fan of the 570 in the bed AND tongue weight. But both bikes won't fit on the trailer. The wheelbase of the 850 is greater than the trailer width, so it can't be side loaded. I might be able to side load the 570 but I'm not sure yet.

I'd prefer to NOT get a larger trailer if possible.

    The 850 loaded.20230701_155218.jpg

Any recommendations is appreciated. I'm sure I'm not the only person to cram space and weight and make it work.

How in the world does a 5x10 trailer have 700lbs of tongue weight?!?

I know it’s against your preference but a larger tandem trailer that can fit both is the answer.

    That's max weight. My mistake.

A 6x12' trailer? I'd like to exhaust options before buying a larger trailer.

She prefers her muscle cars. I tried to convince her into a tundra or taco and she wasn't having it.

Smart woman! Now what I would probably be looking at is modifications to the existing trailer. Maybe a little reinforcement here and there, a little lengthining, maybe a new coupler, springs and an axle. Hard to know for sure without seeing it on the ground. Just my opinion!

I thought about building a "deck" to side load and have camping storage underneath. The trailer can hold the weight, it's the sqft that's the issue.

You may not need a deck and might get by with "channels or tracks" and ramps. Just an idea to save weight capacity. Good luck!

I might be able to source some 6061 c-channel that's 4x10" that can be u-bolted to the rails with nylocks. I'll have to get creative with cross-tying them down but shouldn't be a big issue. Most of the forces are about the vertical and tongue axis'.

I’d load the 570 in the bed and the 850 on the trailer and not think twice. Park the 850 as far back as you can maybe to get some weight off the truck but otherwise, load it and let her run.

I’m loading my Yamaha warrior in the bed this weekend and towing my rzr xp4 on a trailer.

If you look online there is a photo of a crew max owner who had a customer atv rack made to replace his tailgate and hold the rear tires of a quad while he was towing

No way would I trust one of these, but it's another option...Amazon for around $1,900. Looks top heavy and very sketchy at best.

Can you add some kick-out rails to your trailer like this, and side load both?

Or side load a 570 and rear load the 850? Might not fit if you have a ramp gate on the trailer…

My solution to this same issue is a camperized 16x8 cargo trailer, fits 2 quads and has a queen sized bed. It’s not exactly glamping, but not primitive either. :)

Absolutely not. :rofl:that would put over 1500lbs on the rear axle and it's definitely sketchy at best.

Just imagine trying to clean the seats after a tire failure! Looking back it's kinda crazy to think we did things like that and worse in 70's regularly. Good thing we didn't have the pony power of today.

Wow. That’s impressive and a lot of work.

OP, what about standing both ATV’s up on rear in trailer.

I don’t know how hard that is with 4x4’s but we did it all the time with sport quads.

Just get a trailer that fits both quads. All the jerry rigging is just gonna end up being more work and less safe.

If safety is a huge concern, you don't go off riding 4 wheelers far from medical centers!:p

Probably not easy. The 850 is 800lbs and the 570 is 740lbs (I think).

I loaded the 850 earlier and it takes up WAY more room than expected. The 5.5x10 is full with room for camping gear strategically.

The repeated posts of a larger trailer is a guarantee. My 5.5x10 fits in my garage. Maybe I can find a suitable trailer for the bikes that will still fit in the garage? (For reference, the tundie is too big to garage.)

The current trailer is less than an year old. Trade in is an option, but I need to be able to garage it. (HOA and driveway space).

This is the trailer we used when we had to get both of our ATVs out and back to hunting camp. The ramps (which store under the deck) can attach anywhere along the sides or back. We would side load the ATVs and have plenty of room for a big cooler in between them along with other gear. It left the bed of the truck available for more gear, or a pair of trail bikes. Being a flatbed with portable ramps versus a drive on tailgate ramp really cut down on wind resistance when towing. I've had three different ATV/UTV trailers and this version had the best flexibility and was the easiest towing despite being the largest of the three. Not sure how this would work with your garage space issue (the versions from this company have decks that are 80"x11' or 80"x13').

I'm happy with my 850 and her getting her own rig. I've had experience with sxs and they aren't the same.

Can you send me the company info?

Not sure I understand an actual problem here. Does one not fit?

Put one ATV in the bed, one on the trailer. Load some camping gear around the ATV on the trailer, some in the back of the crew max. I’d put the heavier ATV on the trailer. I take two often, one in the bed, one on my trailer.
