Hello good people. I recently purchased a 2022 Limited with the 6 cylinder and the twin turbos. Has anyone put a dual exhaust on one of these. I have had 4 Tundras with dual exhaust and always like the sound. I am wondering how the 6-cylinder sounds with the dual exhaust.

Based on what I have heard and seen in videos, these sound terrible with exhaust modifications.

^^^^ I would agree with the above! Although I haven’t seen one yet with duals and have not even heard if it is even doable???

To each their own but I think you're better off keeping a V6 quiet. I might try the dirty deeds muffler.

I'll give you my full answer with context...

It's a tough call and entirely subjective. Before you invest in aftermarket exhaust on this truck, I would take the time to look at the various YT vids of 3rd Gens with aftermarket exhaust. I would also recommend, assuming you won't be able to find a 3rd Gen Tundra with aftermarket exhaust in real life, that you find a Ford EcoBoost with aftermarket exhaust. They're not exactly the same, but do sound similar IMO.

People poopoo on aftermarket exhaust on V6's a lot. Mainly, IMO, because they're trying to recreate the deep throaty sound of a V8. If that's what you're looking for or that's your reference point...don't waste your money. No matter what you do, you will never be able to get it sound like a V8.

However, when comparing it to other V6's with aftermarket exhaust, I don't think it sounds that all that bad when at low RPM and idle. I had aftermarket exhaust on my 4R with the 4.0L NA V6 and it sounded pretty good. My trouble with aftermarket exhaust on this engine, and the reason why I probably won't ever put aftermarket exhaust on this truck, comes at high RPM...especially sustained higher RPM like highway driving. It just sounds like a constant high pitched drone. I'm thinking it's a result of the turbos on the engine and/or the smaller displacement when comparing it to my old 4.0L. I don't like it.

My 2 cents. Hope my opinion helps you in some way. Cheers!

Thank you so much KroppDuster. I was looking for the V8 sound but worried it would sound like the 4 cylinders the younger generation run around here, which I don't like. This helps me alot. I don't think I will get the sound I am looking for. I think I am going to save my pennies and live with quiet.

Coming from a Stage 3 2018 M3 Competition we are completely stuck with this sound. Most embarrassing thing about pulling into Cars and Coffees or other shows in a 620+ HP car is the exhaust sound by far. I went thru at least 3 exhaust systems and all sound raspy and Honda like once it "gets on the pipe". I was catless for last year of ownership so it sounded even worse.

BMW owners are notorious for throwing redic amounts of $$ into their cars (i was no exception) and we always complained how they sounded compared to other higher end sports cars.

You'll never get the V8 growl sound in the new Tundras....ever.

Is there gonna be any difference between single and dual besides noise level?

isnt it just gonna sound like a turbo engine. On a V8 NA you’re changing the sounds of the pulses.

It sounds absolutely ridiculously terrible in some YouTube videos I have seen.

it sounds like a pissed off bumble bee. Sort of like those lowered and skate boarded Civics you see around.

There is absolutely nothing that will make it sound like a v8, besides the pumped in v8 audio sound in the cab.

I haven't seen 1 positive review. I'm convinced to save my money and spend it on something else. I certainly don't want it to sound like a skateboarded Civic. Thank you everyone.

Sound is completely subjective. One mans trash is another man's treasure..... You can judge for yourself....

It’s probably not gonna sound good, however freeing up the exhaust on a turbo motor probably adds top end power

I ran three different Cat-Back on my 17 4Runner TRD Pro. The 4Runners have 4 Cats and I dropped the two putting a URD y-Pipe on it

    1. URD three inch. Simply stated, poor welding and sounded like crap. Loud and droned. Lost a lot of low-end torque.
    2. Magna Flow Overland. When new, it was a nice system. After 2000 miles or so, started getting louder and droned as well.
    3. Borla Sport Cat-Back; Great Contruction- had mild drone at 1700RPM. Eliminated drone by installing 12" resonator. Good high RPM response, note least amount of torque loss at low RPM.

In the end, chasing the V8 Sound with a V-6.......simple math is you need two more cylinders.

Have a 22 Tundra TRD OR. This is the best of all the systems.

    1. Dirty Deeds Muffler with a 12-inch resonator installed. No loss of Torque and pulls very hard. No rasp and great tone. Not loud at all. But it's still not a V8

One last item-Had a lot of fast cars and do most of my work. Current fun car is a 19 Roush Mustang running LTH into a Borla AE Cat-Back. Nothing like the sound of a boosted car shifting at 7500RPM
