One of my favorite features of the Gen 1 Tundra is the dual sun visors in which the main visor can swing to cover the side window and the second visor rotate down to cover the windshield. This way one doesn't need to constantly swing one visor back and forth on a winding road.

Does anyone know when and why the dual sun visors were discontinued? Was this a safety, liability or government mandated issue?

If I wanted to add a second swing down visor to a later Tundra or Highlander would I be able to securely mount it into the roof headliner. If so, how?

Has anyone done this? Or, added any aftermarket visor?

That must be a mirrored image………. I don’t think the driver side has a vanity mirror on the visor of a best gen.

My truck has a mirror on both driver and passenger side.

I agree, every vehicle should have had this feature for the last century. Kinda been thinking about a brow banner with some sort of graphic to help, but I need to integrate a camera hole in the design. If you put some sort of backing material to anchor into above the headliner, then maybe you could add something from salvage. Might inquire with an upholstery pro and get their .02.

@Hummer Any luck on finding replacement dual sun visors? I just tried to exchange ones from a ‘14 Sequoia Platinum to my ‘14 Tundra Platinum and no go. The wiring connection and while I could have exchanged the two, the hole pattern for the bracket didn’t match either. I haven’t thought further into any mods to the headliner to make it work. On my Tundra, the bracket that pivots the visor doesn’t have the hole for the secondary visor but the other bracket does.

Anyone know which year range sequoia May better resemble the ‘14 Tundras?

LoriB, I haven't pursued it further for our 2017 Highlander out of concern for the very problems you encountered. The dual sun visors on my '03 Tundra are still perfect. A skilled interior body tech might glue a polymer mount for the visor to the ceiling, and re-attach it all for a seamless conversion. That's how I might do it but I don't have the experience to do it right. You might try taking it to a body shop or two to see what they can tell you. I think it's worthwhile doing.

Please let us know and come back with photos!

    Cheers!
