I have a hole in my stock muffler and was thinking about replacing it with an aftermarket muffler. I want to use the existing pipe and heard Magnaflow in the 18 inch length had a pretty nice sound. Does anybody know what part number from magnaflow would be the easiest to slip onto the existing piping without tons welding or modifications? I would also consider other brands as well if anybody has done this job in the past.

    Thanks!

Go with a 2.5" in/out and a section of 2.5" pipe to replace the resonator. You can leave the resonator in and it will still sound good.

I run a Spintech Prostreet muffler and love it. The one I ran has an off center outlet, I would go center in/out but I got it for free.

A lot of guys run Dirty Deeds BAMuffler, it sounds really good too and the owner Keith is a member here. He has muffler set ups specific to your truck that sound good and don't drone.

Heard Flowmaster 40 or 50 were good, maybe less droan than MagnaFlow.

If you're just looking for decent sound and easy install. Walker Quiet Flow or Sound FX are a direct fit, both are right around $100. Nice part is the come complete from muffler to tail pipe so you only need to make one connection.

I was thinking of the Spintech too. Don't have one but reviews are great.

When I get back home from vacation I might make a few exhaust clips and post them up. If you have a good sound system you will get a good idea.

I have a Flowmaster 40 turned down before the axle. I still have the resonator after the cats. its louder in the truck then outside the truck.

I'll try to do sond youtube clips as well this weekend.

I still have the stock stainless steel original. Sounds good and quiet the way I like. Neighbor across the street has a Jeep with (I think) Magnaflow and its obnoxiously loud. I’m sure its very loud droning in his cabin with the soft top he has. I guess whatever steams your clams.

Did get behind a 1Gen AC the other day with dual straight pipes out the back. Sounded mean low grumble when accelerating.

I have the special 50. Nice sound when I get on it but quieter than a 40. Mine is dual in and out so I had to had tail pipes. I exited same side so did not have to deal with spare tire.
