Definitely not the TRD skid plate. I was trying to remove mine last weekend to install the TRD front sway bar and gave up. That thing is a colossal pain in the ass - bolts don't want to come out or locate to reinstall. What a garbage design.

2012 is a second gen. Stock skid plate is easy to take off. About 3 screws and 5 bolts and then just slides right off. Easy enough I just haven't bothered to upgrade the skid to have easier access to the oil filter. I have stock suspension, wheels and tires and I don't even jack up the car to remove the skid to do oil changes.

I’ve got another question about changing out the headlights or taillights with LEDs if I put LED lights in stock Tundra will it make everything blink faster like there’s a tail light out or do I have to go with some kind of a solenoid or transformer

If you're updating to OEM headlights ( Sequoia LEDs) you will not have any issues...it's all in the harness...talk with iHacker and get setup...

You’ll need an in-line resistor to stop hyper flash. Lots of videos out there on how to install. It’s because the LED bulbs draw lower current so the ECU thinks a bulb is burned out and reverts to hyper flash.

You only need one on each tail light or headlight - not both.

Just replaced the 20yo stereo tape deck with wireless CarPlay. I feel like I have traveled ahead in time!
The easiest thing to do is get a new turn signal relay. About the same cost as buying resisters, but you just unplug the old one and plug in the new one. The relays built for LED lights have the same flash interval and sounds the same. I just did it today. Have LEDs in tail lights, brake lights, rear turn signals and front turn signals. Had the hyper flash going until I pulled the old turn signal relay and popped in the new one. I have to say, it is easiest to find the relay if you have a turn signal going. But it is right behind an interior light bulb that is HOT!

It is my understanding that there are no commercially available LED flasher relays for the 2nd and 3rd gen. My 2nd gen uses an 18 pin relay and whatever site tells you that the CF18 relay works is wrong. Hence, everyone here who doesn't have a 1st gen adds resistors.

What is it that you are asking? It looks like you have one without the leveling motor and one without?

I second the RCI skid plate. While I get the free oil changes I remove the entire skid so the Toyota techs don’t screw it up. Very simply and fairly light for its size.

I don't think it will work correctly. The shaft attaches to the back of the reflector and once it's pulled apart I don't think the adjustments would be correct once it's back together. Now that I'm thinking about it, the leveling motor sits in a recessed socket.

Anybody running the RCI skid and C4 Overland bumper together? Have the bumper ordered already. Just want to make sure they go together fine before ordering the skid plate... and if so, which needs to be installed first?

If there is a better thread for this, feel free to link me to it.
