Easy to verify if catalytic converters are stock or been replaced?

I am in the market for a used 2nd gen and one of the areas I plan to check are the catalytic converters. Is it easy to tell if they’re stock or been replaced? Maybe certain welds or brackets to look out for? Pictures would be super helpful too.

 

Their might be a quick way to visually verify stock cats.

The easier approach is to look at a stock set up.

I don't know if there are any aftermarket functional cats that look identical. A common complaint here is most nonperformance aftermarket cats don't run well and will usually throw codes sometimes sooner than later. If you have a code scanner you can scan the code history to see if you see any cat related codes.

 

Pray tell, how did you get the driver's side off without cutting? I wiggled every which way until I gave up.

any of the aftermarket ones wont look near the same as the OEM ones. One for sure thing is to look at the exhaust hanger.
