Eibach Pro Truck Sport Shocks - A short review

    Bilstein 5100s seem to be the favorite entry level option around here so there's not many of us running the Eibach Pro Truck Sport shocks. The Eibachs are adjustable like the 5100s but offer more settings (stock, 0.6", 1.25", 1.9", and 2.5") with the stock springs. I decided to give them a shot after previously running 5100s on a 2nd gen Tacoma and 6112s on a 5th gen T4R. I went with the 1.9" setting on the front using stock springs, Pro Truck Sport shocks in the rear for 0-1" lift, and an Eibach 1" block in the rear. I've ran blue Sumo Springs since day 1 and at 21k miles, half of which are towing, my stock leaf springs are basically like new.

    Here's how it sits with a fresh set of RCI sliders installed:

    The 1.9" setting gained me almost exactly 1.9" with no yota lean. Sticking with the stock coils has the benefit of minimizing the yota lean. Truck aligned easily with 2.7/3.0 degrees of caster. With the 1" block, I still have about 1.25" of rake which is more than enough for my trailer.

    Overall ride quality is improved over the TRD Bilsteins. Truck feels more planted and rough roads are much less harsh. Unlike my previous experience with 5100s these are much more comfortable without being too soft. With stock height being an option on the front shocks, the Pro-Truck Sport shocks would be a good stock replacement.

    The stock Michelins will soon be replaced with a set of 275/70 tires.

    I've got a 100k on stock platinum suspension amd I'm considering these. How are you liking them a few months later?

    I've been very pleased. The ride is really good; more planted at higher speeds and on the freeway, yet less jarring on rough roads. No complaints at all.

    Eibach makes a much better shock for daily driving without losing the offroad benefits.

    I highly prefer Eibach sports over the 5100’s. Much better damping /valving.

    Is there a vendor on the forum dealing in Eibach? Slowly looking at my high mileage 2010 and thinking
    maintenance requirements are going to be upgrades. I like that Eibach offer close to stock fronts.

    Hotshot Offroad is a vendor. I bought my rear shocks and 1" blocks from them. Fronts I scored on Tire Rack on close out.

    I appreciate the feedback. I took a moment and saw that, of all places, AutoZone has the fully assembled 2.0 kits and the falldeal coupon works so they are 20% off the MSRP.

    I wasn't planning to buy these yet, but that seems to be a heck of a good price for these

    Keep an eye out for deals, I got mine straight from eibach website when they were running a discount.

    Even at full price, price is good and they are well worth the coin. Definite upgrade over the stock OR package springs/shocks and light years ahead of the base toyota black shocks. fully assembled and ready to go, and a nice 2 inch attitude boost as well.

    If you want to keep some rake, pair with the heavy duty RAS (active suspension) setup for the rear, will lift the rear about an inch and RAS is a really good match for the slightly firmer eibach coilovers. Doing both will be a 2/1 lift, so basically TRD pro stance with 1 inch of rake.

    I did the front install first. It had a very slight rake to the rear at 1.9" but looked level to the eye. Since the stock springs already had 21k on them, did not notice any settling.

    I'm not a bomb through the desert fast kind of guy, but I drive a lot of wash board gravel, unmaintained forest roads, and some sketch BLM two track. These have been great for me.

    Ive measured and stock Tundras with good springs have 2 inches of rake, except TRD Pros which are level. So 2 inch lift in front will level the truck. Level looks nice unless you do any hauling or towing...which will have you almost always nose high. For smaller lifts, 2/1 lift looks best to me and is what I did, so when I do load up I dont look like a Carolina Squat truck.

    Yes, I don't really tow anything so I'm just looking to level out the truck and want to fit 34s. So from my research and what people have been saying, it seems that 1.5-2 in lift in the front should do it, with +25ish offset wheels.

    With the eibach setup, you can actually fit 285/75-18 (35tall) with stock wheels and no issues. Can keep the mudflaps, no issues with UCA. Do need to trim ears off of OR package kid plate, no trim needed on TRD skid.

    285/70-18 (34s) actually fit stock trucks no lift.

    If you want wider tires, like 12.50s, then you do need less offset wheels, +25 to +35 are ideal.
