Has anyone warrantied Eibach shocks for leaking oil? Their webpage directed me to contact the vendor whom I purchased them from, which I have. I'm trying to be patient with them, and will not name them until a resolution has been reached. I have not received a definitive answer from the vendor if this would be a warranty issue or not. The shocks have 42k on them. If I need to bite the bullet and just buy new ones, I will. However, I kind of expected them to last a little longer than that.

Just my .02, usually a product like this carries a manufacture warranty against defects. This is something that would come up when they arrive or within a short amount of time of being installed and used. Most products that have 42k miles on them would not fit in that warranty. You may want to do some searching to find out what their warranty covers before putting too much effort into it.

Same scenario with me. I have one front eibach leaking lightly , but I only have around 7k on mine. I was told to contact the vendor also, but removing and shipping back on my dime is annoying and expensive. I like the ride, but will just wait until its shot then replace the pair, maybe with something else.

I purchased mine directly from Eibach and had one fail. since they had changed the shock a bit, they sent me 2 new ones. Have not had a problem since.
Now that I think about it, I did not purchase directly but they took care of me after I told them I had no response from the vendor I originally purchased from. Might try to reach out to Eibach directly again.

I appreciate your input. In fairness, I kicked around the same thing in my mind. Yes, shocks are a wear item and I completely agree with you on that. I’ve never returned shocks under warranty before.

Their warranty is a little nebulous as to whether it covers issues like this. I guess I figure if someone’s going to advertise 1,000,000 mile warranty, I should expect more than three years out of them lol.

 Is that what their warranty claims? 1m mile warranty?

Actually that’s for springs. Shocks are limited lifetime. I contacted Eibach directly, see what they say.

    Update.

Eibach was very responsive, thumbs up to them.

I am a moron. What I thought was oil residue on the shock body must have been road deicer. It is now dried out.

That would make sense as I was trying to figure out why it would be leaking but I wouldn’t feel the degraded performance.

    Too many, but not enough....
I always think the worst about shit I see on the truck. Glad your good. I have eibach front coilovers and was worried if they didn't honor their warranty with you.

The road deicer the city uses leaves a really oily looking residue on things. I couldn't fit my finger between the coils last week to feel it. That was my fault for not checking it closer and relying on appearance.

Yeah, I'm glad as well. I really think Eibach offer a lot of value and will probably replace these with another set when they wear out. I'll likely need to have my coils sand blasted and powder coated though.

This is what mine looked like when it went bad. Eibach was fast to take care of me.
