I have a 2019 SR5 and installed power folding tow mirrors earlier this year. Followed the instructions and write ups referenced on this and other forums. Things worked great for a few weeks.

Over time, they’ve started working intermittently. My mechanical skills far surpass my electrical skills, so over the last few months I’ve been trying to pattern the issue in hopes of discovering a fix, but I’ve exhausted my abilities with regard to electrical systems.

The variable with the highest correlation to working vs. having issues seems to be temperature. In the cooler months right after install they were working great. a
As temperatures started to warm up issues began. Now that it’s summer and my truck is parked outside, my mirrors work less than 25% of the time during the day (sometimes driver or passenger will work, sometimes neither, other times they’ll both open/close halfway). I can usually partially depress the fold button on the switch to get them to open/close fully, but sometimes it’ll take several tries to get it done.

Even now though, at night when temps are cooler, the mirrors work 99.99%, if not 100%, of the time.

I don’t know enough about electrical systems to know what could be susceptible to heat causing issues. I’ve tried two different switches (one from Amazon and one from eBay, haven’t tried a true OEM switch). All connections/splices seem to be solid.

I’d appreciate any ideas or suggestions!

It’s obviously a problem with a high resistance connection. I would double check and triple check every connection involved. You will find the problem if you do so.

When I swapped power folding mirrors on my 2017 SR5, I had intermittent problems with the folding operation. I tried to wiggle the connector and it would work some time. That tells me that my pins were not making proper connection. I went with aftermarket pins that just didn’t fit right. Anyhow, I finally bought oem pins from Roman and that fixed all of my issues.

Thanks for the responses. I’ll go back and check the connections and see if wiggling gets them to move. I did have a connection problem right after install and found the pin that wasn’t seated right by messing with the wires going into the mirror. Maybe there are other connection issues that aren’t as obvious.

I'm having the same issues, and just ordered the OEM pins from Roman. Hopefully that solves the problem.

Are these just crimp on terminals or the pins with a short piece of wire? I’m not having issues here yet but want to be prepared just in case

According to Roman, it’s a pin with a short piece of wire. I will try to remember to post photos when I receive them.
