the dealer wants $175. i know that i can find a cheaper one, but am having a helluva time finding it online. part # is: PU140-00913 US-2

i type that # into the official toyota parts site and it doesn't turn up anything. . .?

any info anybody may have would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Did you end up finding one? I'm seeing PU140-00913-2 part number listed online.

yep. i bit the bullet and bought the one from the dealer. i was a little apprehensive about putting in an aftermarket heater, although it is significantly cheaper. thanks.

Well, that's not horrible. I read somewhere that the part people were getting from Toyota was actually an aftermarket one. Is it branded "Toyota"? Glad it's an easy install. I'm planning on putting one on the wife's 4runner and thought I might go ahead and do the Tundra, as well.

yep, it's a toyota part for sure. easy install. having installed several block heaters over the yrs, i certainly don't miss having to drain coolant anymore.

Any help on where to buy one of these block heaters, looking for the Toyota Accessory model, not a zerostat or kats
I found one in on a Toyota parts deal site from Canada but they won’t ship to the United States.

Heck I’d even pay a member in Canada extra for one and have them ship it to Wisconsin for me.

I called my local Toyota dealer and they couldn’t find the part, they said some items are not available to them for certain regions.

    any leads would be awesome.

    Thanks
    Ken

You can buy them off eBay (the OEM part) for like $75. That's what I did.

I'm in Canada, I just installed a $70 (CAD) zerostart heater but had a hell of a time finding one. The one I ordered didn't end up fitting, instead of returning it I did some grinding to get it to fit. Dealers here wanted ~$170(CAD) for the part if I'm remembering that correctly. Let me know if you end up needing someone up here to ship you a part. More than happy to help.

@campergf23 thanks, I might do that, let me do some more research on the recall that blueTSS posted, mine sits in the garage most of the time.

But last time I went up fishing at lake of the woods it got real cold, would have been nice and easier on the motor.

Can someone answer this for me.... I don't live in a climate where one is essential, but I would consider getting one if it meant that I could get instant heat from the vents when I started my truck. Will this accomplish this? I have a remote start, but my truck's exhaust is near my neighbors bedroom window so I'm looking for alternatives that won't annoy him.

No. The Toyota style doesn’t heat the coolant. I’ve used mine a few times and the engine did not reach normal temps any faster.

Look in to the type that heat the coolant. I’ve never seen it, but you might be able to put it in the coolant hose somewhere. But I think it’ll only heat the coolant in the radiator. Once you start the truck, all the other coolant will still be cold until the thermostat opens.

Toyota Canada was installing these at one time.
