Just opened my hood and realized the engine cover was loose and unattached, just resting in place but able to move. I removed it and realized that there are only two “snap in” points. They do not snap in securely; one does however the other doesn’t remain in place. This feels so cheaply designed and implemented. Am I doing something incorrectly?

Is there any way the TRD lift kit install might have resulted in misaligning this engine cover attachment point?

If you have a hybrid, go the owner's manual and look up how to jump the 12V battery. There's good schematic/pictures on how to remove and secure the engine cover with the pins.
But they should both snap in place and shouldn't budge.

Thanks FLKX, I’m a non-hybrid owner. I’m wondering whether the TRD 3” lift kit install process might have resulted in a misaligned driver’s side engine cover attachment point. It’s clearly misaligned and the cover doesn’t stay attached to that location. This results in the engine cover rattling and moving freely on driver’s side, no bueno.

Should probably take it back to them and point that out.

…conversation can probably go like this: “I didn’t have this problem before and since lift install I now do”

    can’t hurt

    I had the same issue.
In the lid is a rubber cup that goes over the ball to pop in place, on my truck, new off the lot a year ago, one of the rubber parts fell out and was laying on the engine. Inserted it back in it proper place and the lid has been popped on and stays in it's place.

Thanks Maharisc. Can you describe this further; any pics? I just checked my engine bay, I didn’t find any rubber parts. It really seems like the attachment point is no longer in the right place to be able to “pop” into the cover. So bizarre. Will take it in and share my findings thx

You are speaking of this big black hunk of plastic?

When you look underneath there are these rubber cups that fit over the steel balls on a post. One of my rubber cups had fell out and was laying on the motor.
