Yesterday a software update pushed into my JBL system. After, the message "new software is not compatible with the system" pops up every start up and requires my to acknowledge. Also, my clock has vanished. I've searched high and low...nowhere to be found. F'ing entune bites! There's also some crappy driver easy speak installed. It uses the mic to blast my voice through the speakers. My crew max is roomy but not that damn big. Anyone know how I can go back a version?

Can you post a pic of the version you were updated to?

You can try downloading the latest from here and reinstalling: https://securedp.toyota.com/download-app/downloads

Did your update come in over the air? Seems really weird that a Tundra update would have the easy speak stuff... Makes sense in my wife's Highlander, not so much in the truck.

Yes, over the air. It's a 2016. All updates have been OTA. I will give this a shot. Much appreciated.

Seems you received an update for a sienna. From what i could find on the inter-webs that easy speak feature is only available for that vehicle.

I can confirm that it is also on the 2019 Highlander. Probably an available option on anything with a third row.

3in ToYtech lift on Tundra and 2.5in in the rear. Tow Mirrors. Toyota grill, and Front bumber. New 6in antenna. Repainted the stepping boards
im trying to do the update by USB, but i believe that my USB is not working on my Tundra. when im in the screen that shows me the USB option is not lid up, so i read another forum on how to fix this problem. Replace the 15AMP fuse under the driver side Fuse box. So i change the one that says "PWR OUTLET" but it still does the same thing, the USB option is not highlighted on the screen. Im like fixing to get a new radio tire of my system just turning off or resets when ever it wants. Any one has a idea how to fix this situation? i seen the ALpine Halo 9 but $1,400 Jesus!!! any other unit that is good out there under $700

Try running the updates from here first. You should get some over the air updates afterwards, possibly. https://securedp.toyota.com/download-app/getUpdates

I tried that. Downloaded it but it’s in kwi format and only Toyota can open it from what they said... I downloaded it, deleted it went tried messing with it for 2 hours and nothing worked. Thank you for sharing that however.

...why would you need to open the file? That's the binary that should be in the root of the USB drive. Copy the kwi to USB, plug into the USB port under the stereo, run the updater from the HU. I've done this on several vehicles in the past, but who knows if they've done some weird shit recently.

Idk. When I saved it to the thumb drive it was for the newer version.. da11, but when I plugged it into the USB port under the radio even after 30 minutes nothing popped up for new update available.. go to settings and update option and nothing ever became available.. maybe it was a mistake I made but I saved everything from the site to my desktop, then desktop to thumb drive. Didn’t work with any of TE 4 times I downloaded it

I went the customer service route and had to jump through hoops of resetting etc. My case was elevated and "approved" to be assessed at my local dealer cost free. I was told they had to be sure I didn't do anything. Since I was planning to upgrade my system anyway, I just trashed it. So was it resolved? No. However, you can likely get some support through customer service. Good luck!

So. Mine got solved. Apparently with the update, there was a corroded file with the over Air feature. They had to get an entire new radio/navigation setup. Once that got put it everything works fine.. here’s the issue, unless it’s under warranty you gotta pay for it. Luckily mine was still covered. Took two weeks to get it in, and 30 minutes for install

Thanks for reply. I sent a letter to Toyota USA, I spoke with a Shonte Barrow she’s Ted Ogawa’s executive secretary and explained in full detail this issue. Don’t expect much. I’m searching for compatible head unit, probably a Kenwood equipped with navigation. Hate to tear into dash and wire in a new microphone, etc...pretty disillusioned with Toyota.

Yeah, I’m thinking that’s what you gotta do.. dealer tried updating and said they couldn’t. After two hours they were saying they tried a everything and couldn’t get past the file.. WTF

Dasaita. Absolutely love it! There's a beefy thread on here. Some guys prefer known brands. All I can say is hell yeah. Coupled with a JL package from James I had soon forgotten about my crappy JBL "premium" system. I find myself looking for reasons to run out so I can fire up the sound.

It allows for everything you can do on an android since it runs that OS. It's essentually an android tablet on the dash. However, though it has a built in navi, I use Waze or Google Maps. I have my Samsung phone run a routine that connects my mobile hotspot when the phone connects to Bluetooth on the unit. Some folks opt to use the Android auto or Carplay (iphone) but I just use my hotspot and run her like a tablet for Amazon music, Netflix, prime video, etc.

There are also a number of pretty cool car launchers that offer an overlay user interface.

I know this is an old post but my 2016 tundra started to have this issue as well. I tried updating my system via flash drive and it says I have the current software. I made an appointment w/ the dealership but it sounds like that's a waste of time. Do I just need to start looking into a new head unit or has someone figured out something so I don't need to give them $100+ just for a "diagnostic test"?

As noted above, I opted for a replacement unit--whole system actually. For info on trying to solve it, see post #20.

I sent a letter to Toyota North America. Ms Shonte Barrow, Tetsou "Ted" Osagawa’s executive assistant responded and she ultimately set up or arranged a new unit through a local dealer, my cost was $140. Send a letter to Ted Osagawa (CEO) Toyota Motors North America 6565 Headquarters Drive Plano, TX 75024 AND email as well: tetsuo.ogawa@toyota.com. I sent an email and a letter via USPS Registered mail. Please follow up on this website. Toyota NA played coy with this whole nonsense...so be ready.
